Proximity for visit suitable for the holidays
This rental is nice, yes. Near a good walking path. However, it is outdated, washer and dryer were wonky, house on a lean, the HVAC wouldnt regulate temp on all three floors and its a block away from Harrisburg's homeless village by PENDOT. HVAC was probably our biggest complaint. Outdated rentals are fine, but the 1st floor was cold, 2nd floor was warm but okay with windows open in dec, third too hot occupy. The stairs up to the 2nd and 3rd floor are quite steep, glad our only family with us was mobile enough to get up and down repeatedly. Wasn't a problem for us, though we took care when racing up and down. Most of the beds only had one pillow on them, including the king, in the photos the beds are made with several pillows. There were pillows in closets with no covers, so that was a bummer alternative. That said, the rental served its purpose as our homebase between bouncing through family's homes for the holiday. We were able to fit our car in the garage, but the garage is a manual pull and quite a tight fit. After reading other reviews I didn't want to end up with a ticket with purchase of a permit. We adjusted our trip a several weeks before staying and were able to adjust the dates. The property manager accommodated the changes. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cooking ware. The feeling I am left with is underwhelmed but not angry. The photos of this listing led me to believe this was a well kept rental and unfortunately in person was different.

House on the river
We were in town for a wedding, so we added an extra day to explore Harrisburg. The house I chose is river front and at the end of a quiet street. The location could not have been any better, 2 miles from downtown, with a wonderful river view. We spent the day walking along the river and enjoying the nearby park, historical monuments and the local restaurants. The house is older but quaint. The first level has been updated and is very nice. The 2nd and 3rd levels could use some TLC. The beds are comfortable but there are no nightstands, extra blankets, or pillows and the towels don’t match and are also old and worn. A night light here and there would also be nice. The carpet is old and worn. The windows are dirty and there is an old screen laying on the roof. The kitchen is sparsely accommodated. There are no wine glasses and only 3 coffee mugs. I couldn’t find a bottle opener either. Finally, there is a major temperature difference between the 1st floor and the 2nd and 3rd. Very chilly downstairs and hot and stuffy upstairs. The house was not very clean. We were greeting with 4 bags of trash in the garage and there were wet towels and sheets in the dryer. There were also several dead flys on the carpet in our bedroom and empty plastic bottles in the backyard. Now I want to point out that all these things can be fixed. They were a minimal inconvenience and we enjoyed our stay very much! I would recommend this house as long as you can work around the imperfections

Property Needs A Lot Of TLC
Four of stayed 6 days in this house. Know up front this is an old house with very steep stairs. Those with bad joints beware because all bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs. PROS 1. There is a nice view of the river and a walking trail. There are also a lot of random folks wandering around the neighborhood. 2. Overall the property was clean when we arrived and fairly well stocked. The kitchen and dining area were nice for making breakfast and then eating. There were no eating options anywhere close. We were unable to watch movies on the TV-maybe it was us or the system is not set up right. 3. Beds were fairly comfortable. Bathrooms are small with only showers. We used this house primarily as a base to travel in the area each day and then clean up and sleep at night. One-way streets in the area were tricky to navigate. CONS 1. Check-in was a mess. The door code provided was wrong and we had to call for help. The code that finally opened the front door did not work on the back door. It took 4 days to get a back door code that worked. Not good. 2. Several doors will not shut, we had bees in the bedrooms for 2 days, no smoke detectors in the bedrooms (unsafe), and 2 bedrooms had no chairs (inconvenient). Bath light switch inoperable and other bath outlet was covered up and unusable. 4. Garage is very small-we squeezed in a midsize SUV but were barely able to open a door on one side of the car. 5. Carpet needs deep cleaning. Overall 5/10. An old house that needs attention.

Not a great experience
Unfortunately we did not have a 5 star experience by any means at this property. I don’t want anyone else to experience what we did, so I wanted to leave an honest review. This house was a good location for our Hershey trip, it is bowever located right next to a homeless tent community and they would hang out in the road and riverfront. The house was very dirty. Walls had gunk, scrapes, cabinets had old food spilled in them, coffee was molding in the pot, thick dust had collected on surfaces. Rugs were stained, bedding had blood stains, even the curtains had brown stains on them. The ceilings had mold/mildew and were cracking. Overall, not well kept. Parking was bad. You need a permit for the street and the garage was blocked where we couldn’t access it. When we checked in it was “keyless” and the code was supposed to be switched so no only else knew it, yet on arrival, it didn’t work. There was also a pest issue. Mouse droppings and traps thrown about and bees inside the house. The exterminator also came knocking on the door because he was told no one was there. There’s only enough sitting room in the living room for 3, dishes and pots provided were dirty with food caked on as well as mouse droppings in the cupboards. The master bed is impossible to sleep on as it is massively slanted. This has never happened in our renting experiences. This place isn’t well taken care of. We received a small refund for our big issues only after vrbo suggested it.

Property was just okay
Based on the other reviews and pictures, my expectations were very high for this place. In reality, it's a very old house that smells like mold/mildew. It's three floors - first floor is kitchen and living room, second floor is one bathroom and two bedrooms, and third floor is one bathroom and one bedroom. The top floors get VERY warm. There is no fan in the master... between the hot air (and mind you, this was May - I'd hate to feel it over the summer!), and a too soft mattress with very cheap-feeling sheets, we slept terribly. I also didn't love having to put one of my kids up on the top floor by themselves. The house was fine, just not great and not somewhere I was excited to come back to at the end of each day. We ended up leaving a day early since no one was sleeping great.

Nicely located for sight seeing with great access to freeways. Old and needs some updating but overall a nice place and a pleasant stay. Better furniture on patio would be a significant plus. Steep stairs to all bathrooms and bedrooms could be an issue to be aware of for some.

Great accommodations for family trip
We really enjoyed our stay here and the hosts were great! We had 6 adults and a two year old that were very comfortable in the house. It was nice having a large kitchen with all the amenities to cook so we did not have to eat out every meal. The location had a beautiful view of the river and we felt safe walking on the trail. Would definitely book again if in that area!

Great space - needs a few tweaks
The location is fantastic - we used it as our home base for a Hershey trip. Less than 20 minutes from the park and access to anything you might need within minutes. Beautiful view with the river directly out your front door (and a great walking path right there as well). Pay close attention to the parking instructions. The garage on site *might* fit a smaller car. Anything else needs to go on street parking (this was no problem whatsoever - just pointing it out). As to the space itself. The first floor is good. Its the upper floors that are a bit rough. There needs to be some repair and cleanup. Overall we had no problems but the four stars are for the state of the space in entirety. We would return if we were taking another Hershey trip.

Hershey-Harrisburg Vacation
We stayed at this rental to mostly go to Hershey park attractions, but also to have a couple of nice dinners in Harrisburg and check out the music scene. The location is great, right on the river with a bike path along it, and it was really easy to get to the highway and whatever else we needed to access. The house is a modernized older city dwelling, which was exactly what we wanted, and was clean and we'll stocked. There was also a garage for our car, which was a major plus, and my seven year old got to see some bunnies and otters on/near the property, another bonus! The only critique I might have is the hot water ran out rather quickly; I'm not certain the tank is set up for a vacationing family of five. But I also didn't complain about it, because it was only an issue once or twice. I definitely received the property.

Short stay fro
The stay was very nice, the pictures were a correct representation on the place. There was a lot of stairs and there was a little mix up on the check in. But the owner was easy to contact and the problem was fixed promptly. The instructions and the directions on how to get a parking pass were slightly confusing. But I would definitely recommend.

Beautiful View
In the beginning, I booked for 5 people and paid extra for an additional guest. When I learned that one person could not attend, I immediately contacted the owner and asked to decrease the number and for a refund on additional expenses. It took a LONG time and several messages to get a response. When I did, no refund was given and I was told it was because VRBO wanted to charge me more for the change so just leaving it alone was the best and least expensive option. Later, I checked rates again for summer months and we were still paying higher than average costs so I reached out again to ask why. However, I did not want to leave us without a place to stay so I just asked the question and did not pursue. I did not get an answer. Later, my friend's parents wanted to come and visit us for one night and we were charged an additional $30 even though I had already paid for 5 people for 9 days. The property has 3 bedrooms and 2 tiny bathrooms (typical of homes in the area) with 4 beds. Upstairs rooms are HOT unless you lower A/C a lot and use fans. There were plenty of towels. The sheets are not cotton and this felt weird to us but may not to everyone. The property is being maintained but not "loved" or appears as little money as possible is being spent on it. We arrived to find the door code was not working but they did help with this immediately, a broken cabinet hinge, bleach stains on the carpet upstairs and not enough seating in the living room for four people. We had to go out and buy toliet paper. We went out and swept cobwebs/bugs off the entry door area/light fixture. You are told to NOT wear shoes in the house and we all found this extremely hard. I understand not wanting shoes upstairs but no shoes in the house just does not match with American habits. The book of instructions/rules does not match what you are sent in messages and ends up being very confusing. We received a parking ticket even though we bought a parking pass because we were not told it did not mean on street cleaning days. This is very important information for people who have no experience with street cleaning and parking on streets. It should have been provided in the book. We paid for cleaning and then were asked to complete a lot of cleaning before leaving which was not in the book of instructions/rules. The view across the street is awesome. The walking trail along the river is amazing. The house was in a great location for our adventures.

Five Stars for a Trip We Didn't Take
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to take our spring break trip to the Harrisburg area. So, we can't really review the property itself. But I wanted to leave a review of the property owner, Qui. We both understand that the situation is hard on both travelers and owners. As such, we decided to split the cost of the rental 50/50. Qui was very professional and respectful. I am grateful that I was renting from him and not one of those other VRBO owners who refuse to be flexible during this strange time. We are not sure when we will get to take our trip to the Harrisburg area, but when we do, I hope this property is available.

The townhouse is at the edge of a neighborhood and fairly quiet as far as traffic noise goes. It is also convenient to the farm show complex and dining opportunities.
