ZERO STARS – ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
I stayed at Candlewood Suites for two nights while attending my father’s memorial service, and it was one of the most frustrating and disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
When I checked in, I was informed there was no hot water, but I was reassured it was “fixed” and they were just waiting for the “glue to dry”—whatever that means. Glue? Really? Hot water either works or it doesn’t. Spoiler: it didn’t work for over 24 hours, which meant I had to shower at my father’s widow’s home before the memorial. Completely unacceptable.
Next, the room key didn’t work. I had to go back and forth to the front desk multiple times to get into my room. This became such an ongoing issue that the staff finally gave me a master key to the hotel, which honestly felt like a massive security risk.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, the room wasn’t even the one I reserved. I paid extra for a king bed but was given a queen instead. The TV didn’t work and had to be set up by staff, and the phone in the room was broken, so anytime I needed anything (which was often), I had to physically go downstairs to the desk.
After dealing with all these issues, I asked for a discount for my troubles. The front desk handed me a card saying I should contact Expedia, who would then contact the hotel to approve a refund. I followed their instructions, only to have Expedia tell me days later that the hotel refused to approve the
