Location, Location. You are steps away from the Museum District, Houston’s cultural heart, with venues exploring subjects ranging from natural science to the African-American experience. The vast collection at the Museum of Fine Arts encompasses Egyptian antiquities, Impressionist art and American sculpture, while Houston Zoo is home to rhinos and cheetahs. Hermann Park is popular for its pedal boats and miniature railway, and also has a Japanese garden. The Houston Museum District is an association of 19 museums, galleries, cultural centers and community organizations located in Houston, Texas, dedicated to promoting art, science, history and culture. The picturesque Hermann Park is the place to bring anyone visiting, but locals should take trips here, too. For starters, it houses the Houston Zoo, where you’ll find more than 6,000 animals in natural habitat-style exhibits, including fan favorites like monkeys, elephants, and cheetahs. Guests can even feed giraffes at daily feedings, held at 11am and 2pm. You’re not a Houstonian until you’ve enjoyed a free show at this striking outdoor theater, which becomes even more striking once illuminated at night. The theater, also located in Hermann Park, puts on a variety of programming, ranging from children’s productions and a yearly Shakespeare Festival to performances from the Houston Ballet and popular concert artists. Bring a blanket or a chair, grab some snacks from the concession stand, and enjoy the show. Covered seating is also available for free, with some evening shows requiring tickets for covered seating. For those performances, assigned seat tickets are available, on a first-come basis and while supplies last, on the day of performance only between 10:30am and 1pm at the box office behind the theater.

In summary, the Houston Museum District is a neighborhood that seamlessly combines culture, history, nature, and entertainment. Immerse yourself in the artistic tapestry of Houston, indulge in delectable cuisine, and enjoy the convenience of a location that puts the best of the city at your fingertips. Your stay here promises an unforgettable experience.

Getting around from the Museum District is convenient and hassle-free, thanks to its excellent transportation options. Whether you prefer walking, public transportation, or ridesharing services, you'll have no trouble exploring Houston and its surrounding areas.

If you enjoy walking, the Museum District is a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood with well-maintained sidewalks and tree-lined streets. Many of the attractions, restaurants, and shops are within a comfortable walking distance, allowing you to soak in the neighborhood's charm as you move around.

Houston's METRORail system is another convenient transportation option. The Museum District has two METRORail stops: Museum District and Hermann Park/Rice U. These stops connect you to various parts of the city, including downtown, the Texas Medical Center, and the NRG Park complex. METRORail operates seven days a week, offering a reliable and efficient way to travel.

If you prefer ridesharing services, such as Uber or Lyft, they are readily available in Houston. Simply use the app on your smartphone to request a ride, and you'll be on your way to your desired destination in no time.

For those who prefer driving, the Museum District has ample parking options. Many of the museums and attractions offer on-site parking facilities, although availability may vary. Additionally, you'll find street parking and nearby parking garages that make it convenient to explore the neighborhood and beyond.

If you're looking to venture beyond the Museum District, Houston's major highways, including Interstate 45 and Highway 59, are easily accessible. These highways connect you to various parts of the city and make it convenient to explore other neighborhoods, attractions, and destinations in the Greater Houston area.

In summary, getting around from the Museum District is a breeze. Whether you choose to walk, take advantage of the METRORail system, use ridesharing services, or drive, you'll have multiple options to explore Houston and its surrounding areas with ease and convenience.

Fantastic Thanksgiving Holiday Stay!
My husband, college age daughter, and I stayed at the Bishop’s Haven 1 during the Thanksgiving holiday & weekend. We had a wonderful stay! We chose the property because of the location and it did not disappoint. We were minutes away from everything we wanted to do, and wished we had more time to explore the museums and restaurants in the area. Our dog accompanied us on our trip, and my daughter and I felt comfortable taking him out for his evening walk as there were many neighbors out and about doing the same - overall we felt very safe at the property. We found the Bishop’s Haven 1 to be exactly as advertised! It was clean, the kitchen had everything we needed, and there was more than enough seating for all of us and a couple of guests in the living room. Overall, we had an excellent stay and will not hesitate to book again when in Houston!
