At this difficult time, we would like our guests to know that a “DEEP STEAM CLEAN AND SANITISATION” is done after every stay.
Rose Cottage is an exceptionally pretty home in Lee, nestled between the sea, sky and hills of the North Devon Coast and on the route of the famous South West Coastal path.
The 16th century cottage offers elegant and cosy accommodation, delightful gardens and a heated swimming pool from Easter until the September, heated between 23 - 25c.
We have body boards, buckets and spades with fishing nets for guests use, please replace if lost or broken - in the Wendy House opposite the swimming pool steps.
Rose Cottage has been recently refurbished and decorated in a light, elegant style, the cottage maintains its character and unique features (which include some low doorways and ceilings and steps without rails), whilst offering flexible spaces for entertaining, spending time with family or relaxing.
With three double bedrooms and a children's room with two double kiddy bunks there is plentiful sleeping space. As you might expect from a cottage over 300 years old, rooms upstairs are relatively small (the living areas downstairs are larger).
The Master Bedroom is spacious and features two traditional sash windows, overlooking the lane and over the fields and woods beyond, and has a wardrobe with ample handing space.
Bedroom Two has two large wardrobes, one of which is used to store the cot (NB - the cot should be pulled out if in use), with lots of hangars and a window looking out on to the rear terrace of the garden.
Bedroom Three is snug (i.e. small), with a double bed and space to move around it, a traditional fire place (not in use) but does not have a wardrobe (we suggests guests either use the hooks and hangars provided or put clothes in one of the built-in wardrobes in Bedroom 2.
Bedroom 4 is the Children's Bedroom and features two smart, white bunk beds (2+2) and a chest of drawers, as well as hangars and hooks (again, no wardrobe).
Downstairs, the elegant, light-filled dining room looking over the fields and into the rear courtyard, boasts wide French windows, essential for al fresco dining in the summer months. The front terrace allow guests to make the best of the weather any time of year.
The sitting room is a charming space, in keeping with the cottage; lightly and freshly decorated with local artwork and a selection of magazines for guests to enjoy (Sadly the woodburner is not in operation, but it is a warm space nonetheless).
The traditional cottage kitchen (with the gentle warmth of an oil Aga, not in use from 1st June - 1st September), and an electric cooker, is well equipped with Nespresso machine (and a selection of complimentary capsules), breadmaker, juicer etc. A large farmhouse table provides a further dining option. A microwave and dishwasher are, of course, included, with large Fridge freezer and an over flow fridge for that extra shop!
For the wet days, the Media Room is stocked with games, a widescreen TV (with Freeview) and house-wide internet (please note, this is the only TV in the house and there is no DVD player).
Please note that Rose Cottage lies on the side of the valley; as a result there are a number of steps and steep drops around the property which may make it unsuitable for some guests. Young children are to be accompanied and supervised at all times - particularly given the on-site swimming pool, heated to 25c - 28c. Some areas of the grounds are private and the owner requires access to the garage (set apart from the cottage) at all times, so please ensure this is kept clear.
Please also note that there are no grocery shops in Lee and closest shops are a 10+ minute drive.
Although WiFi is included, please note that the owner and / or agent cannot accept any responsibility should technical problems render the facility unavailable.
