Mold Alert
I messaged the manager before booking asking if they ever had a mold/mildew issue because I noticed this was an older home. This is something I do all the time because of my severe allergy to it. I explained that I can detect it even when others can't. They told me "no mold". Upon check in I immediately started having an allergy attack, itchy eyes and throat feeling funny. I smelled a strong bleach smell, and cleaner smell. We left for benadryl. The main shower needs repair, it's horrible looking and I imagine was super bleached, dirty, missing grout. The house sits on a basement close to the water. I then knew for sure there had to be mold in the locked basement. I again messaged the owner saying "hey I asked about mold, you said no but I'm reacting to it for sure!" They then told me they were told the issue was cleared/cleaned! If they had been honest from the beginning I wouldn't have booked because even when it's "cleaned" it's not gone! My allergy is so severe I would have ended up in the hospital. I couldn't be in the house for more than 2 minutes without feeling it and I was only in a total of maybe 5 mins at 3 different times during the day. Check in, drop off groceries and pack up. I stayed in the car when my husband packed up. This caused us so much unnecessary headache having to find a new place last minute on a really busy weekend in town at 9pm at night! We booked this one over 2 months in advance! We went to a hotel. Honesty would have prevented all this!
