They had the best fish and chips that I’ve had in a long time. Friendly staff. Short drive to Culloden Battlefield, Urquhart Castle, Cawdor Castle on Loch Ness.
Great place for the price, but don’t stay in room 5. The noise from the bar, music and talking sounded like it was in the room with you. We had the window shut and earplugs in and still didn’t get sleep until after the bar closed at 2 am.
The staff was so caring! They made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They had advice about where to go (tourist activities). When my son didn’t wake up for breakfast, they made something to take on tbe road! This place really surpassed my expectations.
It might not look like much from the outside, but our room was extremely nice and everything was very clean. The location is quiet and if you have a car, then it's very near to everywhere you might want to visit. It was the perfect location for us. Staff were friendly.
Stayed there because it was convenient to the airport but affordable. When they found out I had a very early flight they offered to make me a sack lunch in lieu of breakfast, and sure enough at 5 am my sack was on the front desk when I left. If I ever need to make an early flight at Inverness again I would return. Overall, clean and cozy, but they really could use a lift. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent.
Smithton Hotel is in close proximity to Inverness Airport and therefore convenient as a final stop before early flights. I was admittedly concerned when I arrived to see an attached pub, but noise was never an issue and our second floor suite was more spacious than I expected (and with great views). The lack of an after hours attendant would be my only knock and this property is probably not suitable for people who have heavy luggage or find it difficult to climb a flight or two of stairs.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The area was nice and quiet. The rooms were clean. The staff were helpful.
Lovely large room on second floor with sofa and large TV. Good view out over the hills and the sea across the housing estate. Good bathroom. Downstairs felt like a locals bar. Breakfast was choice of Scottish breakfast items, GF catered for.

Basic accommodation
Basic accommodation... small bedroom with a little bathroom that had no window and there was a drain smell.
The room had the sun beating in the windows so it was quite warm when we arrived. Unfortunately, we got in late and had an early flight out so had to go to bed relatively early. You could hear traffic if the windows were kept open so it was a bit hot all night. The room was very clean and had a great sunset view.
The Smithton hotel is a fabulous place. The staff was always friendly and courteous. The food was excellent. It truly has a home away from home feeling.
Long flights of stairs for 2 people in their 70s with luggage. No lift. TV was size of a laptop computer and we could only access 1 channel. Run down facilities. Tiny room. More like a youth hostel than actual hotel. Way overpriced particularly compared to the other nice hotels we stayed at in Scotland. Paid less at all other hotels, which were modern, clean, roomy and were real hotels.
