Description needs to be updated by Hotels. com so others who don’t speak the language don’t get stuck in a similar situation. Firstly, at check in we were charged an extra 800 yen which included heating fee (mentioned on the site although it was first week of April and 20 degrees so we really didn’t need it - and an Onsen fee which is not mentioned on the website). We didn’t complain - these things happen. Then they said our booking was for room only - but we spent an extra 6000 yen for the advertised “free breakfast” through hotels.com “your secret price promo” rather than booking through another site which had “room only” because we wanted breakfast. After some negotiations and showing them that it’s in their description - we were told free breakfast meant bread rolls and tea/coffee. We don’t know anyone who would be happy with that for breakfast - that’s not even a continental breakfast where you would atleast get fresh fruit, cereal and yoghurt with your bread and tea/coffee. Meanwhile our friends who were in a separate room got stuck inside their room because their lock first wouldn’t open - then it got jammed. That’s when we noticed a few of the doors had extra holes where it looks like the locks have been replaced. At the end of the day we offer to pay extra for a hot breakfast and we were charged an extra 880 yen each. The breakfast was lovely. Hotels.com was quick to help negotiate - however please make sure the description is updated for future bookings.
The water tank of lavatory in the room was not so good. Sometimes water did not stopped. I used the lavatory in the corridor. In the morning the open-air bath is closed. I hoped to enjoy to use the open-air bath in the morning and was disappointed in it.

Adequate for one night
We had a little trouble finding the hotel because we couldn't pull up the map easily, so a local woman showed us where it was. The staff was friendly and the public bath was nice. The room was adequate and clean. We had to ask to get our complementary breakfast and it seemed like an afterthought (a couple of pieces of bread and some soup). Overall, it was good for a one-night stay. It was a reasonable price too!
