Kona Magic Sands Condo

Studio located directly across the street from Magic Sands beach with renovated kitchen and bathroom. The bedroom is separated from the living/dining area by a wall with an arched opening. You will notice the small touches honoring the sea turtle throughout the unit which is why we call it Hale Honu or House of the Turtle. (THIS IS A NON-SMOKING UNIT IN A NON-SMOKING PROPERTY. FINE IS $150 PER OCCURENCE)

Your parking spot is conveniently a few steps from the front door. The complex is a small quaint 10 unit complex and is located directly across the street from Magic Sands Beach (Also known as Disappearing Sands Beach). This is a great swimming beach when it is calm. When there are waves it is only good for experienced swimmers. Early morning is best time to swim and see turtles at this beach. The complex also has a washer/dryer which accept smart phone payment through a convenient app with instructions in laundry area. Washer and Dryer are $2 per load.

The kitchen was recently remodeled and has brand new custom made Khaya (African Mahogany) cabinets. The bathroom was also remodeled with a nice size walk in shower with a shower head or body sprays.

There is periods between usually November and March in which the beach may have less sand than normal due to large swells that take the sand from the beach. Once the ocean clams down the sand gets redeposited on the beach over the course of a week or so. There is no way to predict what the status of the beach sand will be. When swimming at this beach or any beach in Hawaii you should listen to the lifeguards. When there is little or no sand the beach is much more dangerous.

There is a large front lawn off the lanai and you can watch the sunset from the lanai. You can see the water from the Lanai but cannot see the beach as we have Hibiscus hedges to provide privacy as the beach can get busy and the hedges provide privacy from people walking and driving by.

The unit accommodates a MAXIMUM OF 2 GUESTS ONLY. THERE IS ONE QUEEN BED ONLY AND SOFA IS NOT A SLEEPER. THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING There are two ceiling fans. This is a licensed Short-Term Vacation rental STVR-19-360605.

This place is a 1 minute walk to the beach, we loved hanging out there whenever we could. The place has everything you need for the beach (towels, boogie board, floaties, chairs, umbrella, cooler). Great view of the sunset from the lanai. The kitchen is great for cooking, we will definitely be coming back.

Beach Condo worked for us!
Fantastic White Sands Beach Location! We really enjoyed our stay here in Kona, our first time to the big island! With easy access to the beach, this condo has a great kitchen, and almost everything we needed, except beach towels. For Owner's Eyes: There are also a few deferred maintenance items that should be addressed, as well. 1- patio door handle needs tightening 2- bathroom sink draining very slowly 3- fan/light controllers may need new batteries (work intermittently) 4- beach umbrella spine hinge found broken 5- snorkel to mask strap holder found missing on the large mask All of the above did not deminish THE GREAT TIME WE Had!!! A great spot for some time away
The condo was exactly what I needed to live pretty simply in Kona for a couple weeks. The kitchen had all of the appliances I needed to cook a lot for myself and the airflow from the ocean kept the place nice and cool all day. There was an awesome beach and restaurant right across the street for when I wanted to get out too. The ocean was like a real life sound machine the nights I slept with the doors open which was pretty cool. Robert was extremely responsive and even checked in via text part way through the stay.

The property was not as clean as I would have liked, the floor had clearly not been mopped and there were a lot of dead bugs on the floor. There is also no AC in the unit so it is very warm. However, the owner is very responsive and the location is great, we really just used the place to sleep so 4/5 stars for sure.

Clean, well-equipped, close to the beach
Excellent property right next to the beach. The beach is right across the road. Safeway/farmers market/Kailua downtown are all within a 10-minute drive. Property is well-equipped, with a toaster oven, coffeemaker, all sorts of cooking utensils and lots of beach gear. There's a hose outside so you can rinse your feet off the sand before going in. It does get hot in the middle of the day, as there's no AC, but you have multiple fans at your disposal to help cool down. We were mostly on sightseeing trips during the day so it wasn't a big deal. In the evening you can open the windows and let the breeze cool everything down. Also note that the beach location has some negatives to it as well. Close to sunset you'll have people that park across the road and blast loud music from their cars. It's not too annoying when doors are closed, and they leave soon after it gets dark. Birds also get very loud at nearby trees in the morning (4-5am) so if you're a light sleeper you should bring some earplugs. Additionally, Robert sent us a wonderful guide book about Big Island. Called "Hawaii Big Island Revealed" it showed us some points of interest which we added to our day trips, which allowed us to see some hidden gems of the island. Overall we were very happy with the stay on the Big Island.

Just the Best
We have stayed in this condo complex before and the visit is always wonderful. The location, across from the park/beach can't get any better! Having a parking spot, laundry facilities, lanai, and beach accessories makes for a great time. The updated inside is great! especially the kitchen!! The floors might need an upgrade but overall are fine. The activities at the beach are loud sometimes but pretty much over by 10-11PM. We hope to stay here again!

Wonderful condo/apt for two. Exceptionally clean, neat and ready with everything we needed and more. The furnishings and decor was outstanding. Walk across the street to Magic Sands Beach and short drive to Kailua/Kona downtown and nearby Keauhou Plaza for food, fun, and shops. Easy access to Ali'i Drive to motor any direction for daily adventure on the wonderful Big Island. We have traveled to the Big Island almost every two years and sometimes more than once a year and this is the best condo ever. Robert C, the owner is so gracious sharing this with others. The kitchen appliances are outstanding. In fact, I would like them in my home. And, he sent us our favorite book "Big Island Revealed" which is our go to every time we visit the Island.

Had a small issue getting checked in but it was resolved. The condo is small but remodeled very nicely & met our needs.. Shared washing machines on property are not the greatest but are functional. White Sands stay
Quite a smooth stay. Robert was always quick to respond to any questions I had. Apartment was small but very functional. Warm with no AC but lots of fans to keep air moving and feel cool. Location was excellent. Ali’i Drive is busy but if we didn’t feel like going and exploring other beaches we just had to walk across the street which we did a few days.

Just what I hoped for!
This was a really great place to stay and I cannot speak highly enough of the experience. Robert was a gracious host and very helpful with fast responses for any questions. The condo itself is lovely and very tasteful. The quality of all the materials, from the linens to cookware to snorkel gear, was better than I expected, but that goes to show the care in which Robert has put into his place. I love this location and would absolutely stay here again. I particularly enjoyed having breakfast on the lanai and listening to the birds singing and surf pounding. For those who may be concerned about no air conditioning, I would suggest that not having AC helps with acclimating to the weather and humidity. We left the fans on the whole time and it was fine. Thank you for the courtesy and use of your beautiful home!

Comfortable apartment in a nice location and gracious host.
I stayed here for 5 days while in town for the Ironman, and absolutely loved it! The host, Robert, was available by text for questions and suggestions. The apartment is in a quiet unit with a parking spot right out the front door. The interior looks exactly like the photos, in fact maybe even nicer. I will need to find his carpenter and get some of those cabinets made for myself! There is no AC but if you keep the sliding doors open at night and run the fans, it will cool the place down. Magic Sands beach is smack across the road and the turtles really do come in every morning around 8am. It was fairly high surf while was I was there, exposing a lot of rocks, so you need to swim with awareness and respect how powerful the water can be. The host keeps snorkels, fins, and boards for you to borrow during your stay. Also, make sure to eat at Magic's food truck across the street- ALL THE YUM. The apartment is only a couple of Kms out of Kona village, making it easy to get into town by bike or car. If I am lucky enough to come back for IM Kona next year, I would book this again.
