Great Location, But Corners Were Cut
The good: Great location, nice shaded property with lagoon views from the back patio. We spotted two alligators, 3 deer, and a heron during our stay. Pretty cool! Walking briskly, I made it to the beach in 6 minutes. With kids and wagon in tow, it took closer to 11, but still not bad. The property is in Kiawah proper and you benefit from that by having access to a beautiful beach with no crowds. You can explore the island by foot or bike and take in all of the sights. Being just past the main gate, you are within a 5-7 minute drive of the grocery store and the main restaurants in the area. Included amenities were great, too. Cable and Netflix is a plus and we had enough paper products and soap/shampoo to get us through a 4 night stay without needing to replenish at a store. Greatly appreciated!
The bad: Basic attention to detail has been left out and we suffered unnecessarily because of it. Blinds in both bedrooms are cut for inside mount but installed as outside mount, leaving three inch gaps that cause light to stream in at sunrise. Simple curtains would fix this. Mattresses are the firmest I have ever encountered and it felt like we were sleeping on concrete. Nightstands in the second bedroom are taller than the beds and there are sharp corners at head level. Worst of all, the hall bathroom tub had no non-slip pads and our daughter slipped, fell, and cut her chin on the tub. We had to drive 40 minutes to an urgent care for stitches. Not the best experience
