Perfect Outer Banks get away for your family to enjoy all that the beach offers. Our home is located on North Virginia Dare Trail in Kitty Hawk around the 2.5 mile marker post. You'll be able to enjoy the view from the large screened-in porch with a swing to relax or the large sundeck to catch some rays or amazing sunsets! Large deck under the house to relax out of the sun, play darts, cornhole or just hangout and enjoy a cool beverage or spend time with your dog. Mini refrigerator in laundry room.

Nice split floor plan with 2 front bedrooms with queen size beds which open directly onto the screened-in porch. The two bedrooms up front share a bath and the 2 BRs (1 queen bed and one twin over double bed with pull out twin mattress) in back share the other bath. The central living area has plenty of seating for everyone to be together comfortably watching TV or playing games. Each bedroom has its own TV with 2 with cable and two with Roku and DVD players. Also has internet access and WII video games, books and DVD's. Lots of books or board games for family fun nights.

This location offers close proximity to two fishing piers, a short drive to Corolla to see the wild horses or to Oregon Inlet for a deep sea fishing trip. Many attractions within a 30 minute drive such as the aquarium in Manteo, Escape Room in Southern Shores, miniature golf, Wright Brothers Museum, zipline, Grave Diggers, water park, etc. Short distance to Arts Place for great burgers, Rundown Cafe and other restaurants.

The cottage is dog-friendly up to two 50 lb dogs only. Pet fee is $125. No other pets allowed.

Due to additional cleaning measures additional time may be needed to clean the property between guests depending on check-in day and when last guest checked out, etc. Check-in time is 4:00 PM. If home is ready earlier you will be notified. Our cleaning person will contact us to let us know when the house is ready for your stay. I will then send you a message to include the lockbox pass. Please note, our check-out time (10:00 a.m.) is firm because our fantastic cleaning lady needs time to ready the house for our next guests.

NOTE: All carpet has been replaced with LVP flooring as of December 2023. Photos will be updated as soon as possible. Comforters, pillows and blankets provided.

Guests to provide their own towels, linens washcloths, shampoo, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. as well as other consumable items. There may be some items at the home to get you started when you first arrive.

There is a linen service close by if you choose to rent these items instead. Moneysworth -1-800-833-5233. They are located in Kitty Hawk.

Some other items that are provided include vacuums cleaners, hair dryers, x-large dog crate, medium dog crate, doggie play pen, beach chairs, tons of beach toys and a couple of beach carts.

Thanksgiving trip #2
Great trip and such a great house for us and our two fur babies! This was our second time back during Thanksgiving week and we had a relaxing trip. House is set up perfectly. The only thing is pics should be updated to show all the improvements to floors and yard etc. we hope to go back soon!

Perfect Location / Beautiful Beach
Quiet location that is both kid and pet-friendly. The house has many kitchen amenities, games, videos, beach toys, and dog supplies.  The house is only minutes from restaurants, shopping, and ice cream.  The beach access is about 1/2 a block from the driveway. The beach was beautiful.  All the supplies (chairs, carts, toys, umbrellas) you need for a beach day are available at the house.  The outdoor shower was very convenient after a day at the beach.  We loved the extra space of the screened porch and tiki area.  We had great sunrise views from the screened porch.  The views from the upper deck were also fantastic, especially the night sky. We had excellent communication with the hosts. They were accommodating, informative, and incredibly kind. We loved our stay and look forward to another.

Fantastic Dog Friendly Vacation Spot
We had a fantastic stay at this Kitty Hawk vacation rental! The house was spotless upon arrival and featured thoughtful touches like local recommendations and tips that made settling in a breeze. The kitchen was well-equipped with dishes, utensils, and spices, and we appreciated the various sizes of dog crates and beach gear available. The layout, with two bedrooms and one bathroom on each side of the house, provided great privacy and comfort. The spacious backyard and tiki bar were perfect for our dogs and for relaxing mornings. The owners were proactive and responsive, ensuring a smooth check-in process. We’re already looking forward to renting again in 2025!

Awesome house and location!
This house is clean and spacious and across the street is the beach. We love the screen porch, plenty of games and under the house great place to gather with the Tiki Tiki bar, darts, cornhole boards... The yard is fenced in for your pets, which is awesome!!. The owner is very responsive and kind. Our family loves this home and will be returning for our 4th year.

Great stay, great location.
We had a great stay and the property was expected, close walk to the beach and everything is within 10 minutes. We had our dogs and the yard was great, except some prickers that got stuck on my dogs multiple times, I would recommend to have someone do a better job on the landscape to make it more dog friendly, hopefully they can get this fixed and then I would have no issues. Overall great pick and would book again if the yard is cleaned up a bit. Easy check in and very clean property.

Shifting Tides
We have stayed at this location for several years. We love the location, just a short walk to the beach. We spend most of our evenings in the screen in porch and the down stairs “tiki area”. There is a large fenced in area for your 4 legged family members.

Cute Comfy Beach Cottage
This home was a delight to stay in. The location was perfect, so close to beach and walkable ice cream and restaurant just down the street. All the things we needed were in the house, movies, books, games, beach gear, baby gear, dog gear, cooking supllies... - just remembered to bring linens and towels, paper towels, and extra TP! Its small but perfectly formed with enough seating in the living room for us all to gather and it has wonderful underhouse hang out space and porch space. Great beach cottage!

Great October visit to Kitty Hawk
This is our second year staying at Shifting Tides. The house is perfect for families and pets. Love the gate systems as well as the upper deck and screened porch ocean views. The owners are responsive and accommodating. Wonderful location and a great October vacation in OBX!

Great location and wonderful Host
Location was great as beach access is close by. Fenced back yard was excellent for our fur babies. The beach toys, chairs, umbrellas and beach carts were very handy and allowed us to not have to pack as much which was fantastic. Highly recommend!!

Shifting Tides is A++
We just finished up our fourth straight year at Shifting Tides and each year just keeps getting better and better. The addition of the Tiki bar and extension of the deck on the lower level reminded me of our own Tiki bar set up at home. I mean, I could go on and on about how superb the place is, as well as how awesome it is to deal with Christine and Paul. But I think the best compliment that I can give is you know you’re in a great spot when everything feels very familiar. I love saying “hello” to Mr. Shark when we bring our stuff in, and I give him a fist bump when the week is done and it’s time to go home. Shifting Tides is a gem. See you next year! Todd and Tamara

Great OBX stay and VRBO experience

We love this house and location, it is perfect. The owners are always surprising us with additional features and upgrades. The fence is awesome for your kids or pets. My favorite is the front porch and now the Tiki Tiki bar outside!! The pictures do not give this house justice. Counting the days for next year :)

We stayed at this property for 3 nights, and we loved it. The pictures don’t do it justice. The outside tiki bar area, living room, screened in porch, and sizable yard are great areas to hang out with plenty to do. A short walk across the street puts you right on the beach. The owners were responsive and accommodating, ensuring we had everything that we needed. I would absolutely stay here again.

Fantastic Kitty Hawk getaway!
This house was exactly what we were looking for for our OBX family vacation! Right from the start Christine was helpful, quick to respond, and easy to communicate with. The house itself is perfect – cozy, clean, great layout for two families, and the location couldn’t be more convenient to the beach. We loved the multiple outdoor spaces and the fully stocked beach gear closet was super helpful: plenty of chairs, sand toys, coolers, boogie boards, and two carts to lug it all to the beach. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook multiple dinners for eight, and the beds were all very comfortable. Our dog loved the fenced in backyard as well. I could go on! We loved Shifting Tides, and can’t wait to book again!

Love this House!
This was our fourth year staying in this property, and we just love it. The owners are so sweet and so quick to respond. The property is always clean and provides everything we need. It is a VERY short walk to the beach access. Now there are two outdoor spots to hang out; under the house at the tiki bar (cool breezes on the hottest of days) and always love the screened in porch on the front of the house! We always have fun here, and are so thankful to be able to bring our dog!

Very comfortable beach cottage. The photos do not do it justice. Great place for family to gather. We would love to come again. The Spectrum wifi was not working, do to no fault of the host. Spectrum could not send a tech for repairs until after we left so the hosts made arrangements with a neighbor to use their wifi.

Nicholsons vacation at Kitty Hawk
We had a nice time. The eating area on the porch was wonderful. The beds were comfortable. Lots of beach toys and chairs. There was a very good supply of kitchenware and utensils. We enjoyed many of the sights around Kitty Hawk, Duck, and Nags Head. The kids enjoyed the beach. We had a good stay and time went by too fast.

We enjoyed our stay here very much! Very dog friendly and has that unique “at home” feel that many rentals do not have. Just a short walk to the beach and you can see the ocean from your bed when you wake up in the mornings! I hope our grandchildren remember it for many years to come!
