Stayed in one of the private rooms with 3 beds (2 on the floor, and one in a loft). Just steps from Motomachi shopping street, and super close to the Minatomotomachi subway station entrance (just across the street). Room was very clean, and I had no complaints about the shared bathroom arrangement. The best part however, is that there is a fantastic laundry place (ストランドリー STLAUNDRY (大型コインランドリー) 3 minutes walk from the hostel that takes card, does a full wash/dry cycle for only 1000 yen.
If you need a place for a few nights, this place is hard to beat.
Hostel Anchorage was a neat, quiet and respectful accommodation with a comfortable shared lounge/dining space and kitchenette. The family room was lovely and we all slept well.
We had a great stay at Hostel Anchorage. We had a private two person room that was cozy and clean. The location of the hotel was convenient, too— close to Motomachi and Chinatown and walking distance to the Harbor and Sannomiya.
The owner is an excellent fellow who speaks very good english! The private rooms have excellent AC, long beds, and plenty of space for luggage. There is a Lawson on the corner, and a nice ramen place down the street
I spent few nights at Hostel Anchorage, which is conveniently located about a 15-minute walk from Motomachi Station. There are several tourist attractions nearby, making the location quite convenient. However, my main issue was with the mattress provided. It was too thin, and after the first night, I experienced backaches and struggled to sleep well for the rest of my stay. Had I known about the poor quality of the bed beforehand, I wouldn't have stayed for so long, and I deeply regretted my decision. When I politely approached the staff about the possibility of adding an additional mattress for comfort, they refused and their attitude towards me was less than satisfactory, which further added to my disappointment.
exceptional location. Private room for 3 was 75.00 USD,, so not bad! very nice staff, exceptionally clean, spacious private room, but very tight quarters in common areas and hallways. didn’t sleep at all because from 2am to 5am people don’t respect the QUIET TIMES and have full loud conversations in the hallways right next to your door!! are you serious? how ignorant can you be to not know that talking loudly at 2:30 in the morning with paper thin walls and noise carry’s… talking on a cellphone super loud at 4am? give me a break. this is not a reflection on the hostel, but people that stay at hostels worldwide who have ZERO respect for quiet times and other people there.
Hostel Anchorage was in an ideal location to explore the city and get out to the mountains for some hiking. While I stayed in the dorm, it was silent at night and very easy to fall asleep. The owner was very friendly and you can tell he really cares about the place as it is in immaculate condition. I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Kobe.
Clean hostel in a good location. Owner was incredibly accommodating. Internet was rather bad. Need to rent towels for the shower. Common area on a different floor than sleeping area, which can be inconvenient.
I needed a room in a pinch, so based on the high ratings, I booked two nights.
Limited hours: Had to cancel first night because my train arrived at 10:15 pm at Shin-Kobe station. The information in the email said No Check-in after 10pm (limited front desk hours). However, I saw a small sign in the common room that you could pay ¥500 for late check-in.
Towel Rental: ¥150 if you’d like a towel for your shower.
Shower room: The woman’s shower room on 3rd floor had no hooks, shelves, or anything for you to hang or place your towel, clothes, or toiletries. Everything goes on the floor!
People staying on other floors can enter the 3rd floor after hours by using an access code, which is loud. No chance for a peaceful sleep.
I was happy to save money at first, but quickly realized that I’m better suited for a budget business hotel.
Well maintained hostel ran by owner who is friendly and loves to travel.
Within 5-10mins walk from JR train station and plenty of food around the hostel.
This is a very nice and clean hostel!!! Kazu was very helpful and provided information on places to eat and things to do around town. Thank you for the awesome service!!!
