Hotel Aru Kyoto was very beautiful, right in the heart of Kyoto. Our room was quite comfortable, though the pillows were a little too firm for my liking, which seems to be a regular occurance in Japan. We got discounted drink tickets for the bar downstairs upon arrival, which was appreciated, and the bar was always quiet and peaceful when we were passing through. The front of house staff also helped us ship our large luggage overnight to Tokyo, which we would recommend taking advantage of if you are visiting with a large bag in tow! My main gripe was that the nearby streets are lined with bars and most nights we were subjected to hearing loud karaoke warbling or drunken shouting from below if we had the windows open at all. The aircon system did not seem to go below 20c, so if the windows were closed it did get a bit stuffy at night. Otherwise it was a lovely hotel, and we would consider staying there again. Thank you!

The price was autumn color leaves season price so it was higher price but the season is delayed this year. I missed autumn color leaves. I felt the price was too expensive because of it. It should be excellent as regular price.

Love the early 20th century style and low key vibe of this hotel! Everything we wanted to see was close by. Popular shopping, eating and drinking areas were within a 5-10 minute walk, but the noise did not follow us back to the hotel. Proximity to the canal was a wonderful amenity.

Honestly the place is perfectly placed near hot spots for shopping, restaurants and Jazz but also romantic evening river walks - staff very lovely particularly the breakfast lady and a couple of the young lads were so polite and efficient /the stained glass windows nice look and our first room ( yes extended stay on 6th floor perfect view, water and bathroom stuff all free x great pjs - near by best noodles at Omen and Gyzo opposite, coffee barista world class on the bridge at the corner and Hello Dolly Jazz

I was very impressed with not only the hotel staff who were extremely helpful but the hotel itself. It was very clean & my room was pretty spacious for Japanese hotels and very comfortable. Pretty large bathroom & a great shower. Most importantly it was extremely convenient to all the great shopping, Nishi Market, great restaurants & the Gion area. I highly recommend this hotel.

A great choice in Kyoto
Super friendly and helpful staff. Great location for public transport, shopping and nightlife. The breakfast buffet was great, the hotel bar was a quiet refuge from the busier bars in the area. Their unlimited wine for an hour for 1000 yen was hard to refuse.

Had a great stay at this hotel. It’s stylish and clean and in a great area. Upper patio with a great view was a nice touch. Vending machines on the second floor but I didn’t check it out as there is a 24 hour Lawson around the corner. Any toiletries we forgot and then some were available in the lobby for free. Staff were pleasant and could speak English. Thanks for a great stay.
