Really nice property with friendly staff. The hotel is located in the perfect area. Lots of shopping and food nearby but it’s just off the Main Street so it’s quiet at night and not too busy just outside. The only downside was we got a room with no view. Would have been nice to actually have a view.

One of the best things going for this property is its location. Step outside the hotel, and into the adjacent main street and you have immediate access to all the major shopping centres and train station. The famous Nishiki market is just across the road. The Yasaka shrine and Gion is only a 10 min walk away. The facilities offered are of high quality - clean, efficient and comfortable. The public bath (onsen) is an added plus - I enjoyed it everyday during my stay. The external areas are very tidy and well maintained. There is a little shrine and cemetery at the back of the hotel, a nice area for a stroll. Although the staff (except for one or two) does not speak proficient English, they nevertheless try hard to be helpful. They are always friendly and courteous. They were able to help me change a restaurant booking, arrange transport of my bags to our next destination with relative ease. This is a very snug and comfortable little hotel in the heart of the Kyoto shopping district which should be very convenient for most tourists and local business travellers.

The beds were comfortable and the hotel itself was nice and clean, but we had a view of a brick wall and the rooms were a bit small. Also the breakfast was set plates and was quite pricey compared to the last Mitsui Garden we stayed at. Great location though!

From the moment I checked in to the time I left, it has been a seamless journey experience. If there’s an area of opportunity, I have to say that the quality of the Ochazuki breakfast are not as good as last year.
