Great stay, quick check in, was able to check in early. Greeted by owner, very friendly and helpful. Note: I would advice to contact hotel before check in, for instructions in entering building. The room and bathroom very clean. Confortable beds. Good for the $$. About 2 - 3 blocks to train / trolley/ bus. A fee restaurants/bakery’s/7/11 near by there is a actually a Korean restaurant on the 2nd floor, didn’t get to check it out) (Family vacation party of 6 mainly in hotel to sleep and shower)

The room 4F had bed bugs on the bed closest to the bathroom. My children had bug bites when we checked out, and we were only there for 1 night.

Nice place for a big family to stay
The overall stay was good. When we arrived, the host was not there, but he left the key and a note in the front desk giving the instruction on how to get to the room. The check in was very smooth. The room has four double beds and lots of space, big enough for a big family to stay. The location is very convenient, close to many bus stations, shops and restaurants. The only drawback was that the wifi did not work well, in fact, very slow, and this was very inconvenient.

We had a a great trip to Japan. North to Sapporo and South to Osaka, and there were many issues with all the other places that we stayed. But this place was by far the VERY BEST!! Clean and well laid out. Lots of room, 4 double twin beds that were comfortable, lots of hot water available all the time, A/C that worked correctly! Easy access all time time! Bus service very close (less than a block) and gave easy access to the whole city! Easy laundry! Fresh clean towels every day! And the owner was the nicest and friendliest ever!! Always happy to talk & give advice/help!! He had city and bus maps available right at the front desk every time we needed one. As I said earlier, a Great place to stay in Kyoto and it gave us easy access by JR rail pass & bullet train to several nearby cities.

The owner was a lovely, friendly man. The unit was clean and spacious. Bathroom was a little tight so definitely one person in there at a time but another person could easily wash up at the kitchen sink. Only a few minutes away from a subway station and right outside, we were able to catch a bus to take us right to Kyoto station.

Great Family Stay
We enjoyed our stay. Great for families. There were 4 beds and the room was clean. There’s only 4 units (1 on each floor) and a good Korean restaurant on the 2nd floor. They were very nice. It was nice they will help do your laundry.

Plenty of room and good location
Good location not far from downtown. The manager is so friendly and accommodating. He really goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The room is clean and has plenty of space for a family to spread out, which can be hard to find in Japan.

The room is large with plenty of room to “live” and many beds so the 5 people staying in the room were all comfortable. We enjoyed our stay!

Loved Sarangbang
Saranbang Guesthouse was surprisingly great. It’s run by a couple and his son and they are so nice. Everyone in Kyoto was so nice. We got the apartment in floor 4(1 per floor) and it was very spacious. Has a table and chairs and a small kitchen. The beds are super comfortable. It has air conditioning and heater and they work great. The bathroom is a little small but the shower was heaven, didn’t bother us at all. They had extra blankets and pillows and sandals for walking inside. The second floor is a little restaurant that is open I think from 5:00 to 11:00 We really recommend staying here. The attention at a hotel will never be this nice and our room at the Tokyo hotel was much smaller than this apartment. They also do your laundry at no cost and you cam ask them any information about the city.
