DESCRIPTION
Located in the upscale neighborhood of Bird Rock in La Jolla, this home was designed by the owner/architect as a custom-build, with every corner displaying attention to detail. This luxury vacation rental offers three bedrooms, three bathrooms, enclosed front and back yards, a bubbling hot tub, and a rooftop lounge with beautiful coastal and ocean views.

The main level living room has an open-air feeling due to the wall of windows looking out to the lush, tropically landscaped front yard. Custom leather couches and seating areas create a comfortable space to converse or relax by watching your favorite movie on the large flat screen with full surround sound.

The adjacent dining room offers seating for 8 at a glass-top table enhanced by custom art by the homeowner that is displayed throughout the home. The galley kitchen is fully equipped and features custom hardwood cabinetry, stone countertops, and high-end kitchen appliances.

The first of two bedrooms on this level comes with a king-size bed and a leather sofa where you can enjoy the projection screen movie system which covers the entire wall along with an extensive DVD collection. The sofa folds down to convert into a full-size bed to create an additional sleeping space. The en suite bath includes a full tub and shower, and glass sliding doors that lead out to the private backyard.
The second bedroom features a queen-size bed and direct access to a bathroom with a custom glass-enclosed shower.

The Primary Suite encompasses the entire second level of the home and is a true retreat. Soaring open-beam wood ceilings and luxurious king-size bed, gas fireplace, comfortable couch seating area and private patio with ocean view. This loft space also features Shoji-type screens open to ocean views or close for more privacy from the main level. The en suite bathroom has two standalone sinks, a vanity table, a sunken jetted tub, and a separate custom shower stall.

Take the spiral staircase to the top level of the home leads to the rooftop deck lounge featuring beautiful views of the ocean and coastal San Diego. This fully furnished space includes a small bar fridge and is the perfect place to doze in the sun on the oversized lounger and then toast the sunset over the ocean!

The backyard features custom lighting to set the mood for each evening’s enjoyment. Entertain your friends and family by cooking up your favorite meals on the built-in BBQ and share meals on the outdoor dining table then after dessert, top off your day with a nice relaxing soak in the bubbling hot tub.

Additional amenities include WiFi, a koi pond, streaming smart TVs, a full-size washer and dryer, ceiling fans and box fans, and a stereo with built-in speakers in the Primary Suite.

The property is just as shown and even more beautiful in person. It is well stocked & well maintained. The art in the home adds character & we enjoyed looking at all the pieces. An oasis and escape in La Jolla
My family and I had a wonderful time at this property. Does not disappoint. With the beautiful design and landscaping you are transported immediately when you open the front gate. You have a feeling of total privacy which is an amazing feat. There is complete tranquility sitting in the front garden with its water feature filled with beautiful Koi. The inside of the house is surprising spacious but feels cozy. Feels like home. The back patio offers privacy as well and a perfect hot tub/jacuzzi to let your stress melt away. Plenty of nearby food options and Gelson’s is a quick 2 minute drive for groceries. The master bedroom and roof top are one of a kind. Definitely a must stay in the future.

Thanksgiving celebration with family
Had a wonderful stay at this property to host a family Thanksgiving celebration. The location was so convenient to restaurants and coffee shops and such a peaceful area for evening walks. The rooftop deck is phenomenal, amazing to sit outside at sunset on the comfortable outdoor furniture. The Koi pond in the front of the house was so peaceful and impeccably maintained, groundskeeper was there every day. This is a great place, we highly recommend.

We loved our stay while here for a girls trip (early 40s). The house is gorgeous and clean. Highlights were the jacuzzi and rooftop deck where we watched the sunsets. Comfy beds, perfect for our group of 5. Neighborhood is adorable; we walked to pedicures and coffee. We would love to return!

Quiet & Comfortable
This home worked out perfectly for our family of six. It is beautifully designed and decorated, is private and quiet, and has all the amenities you need. The property manager stayed in touch all week to make sure we had everything we needed. I was a little concerned about the street parking, but we always found a spot right in front of the home. The location was conveniently located to all the things we wanted to see in the San Diego area.

Family Christmas in La Jolla
Kitchen is great for cooking and sitting down to eating together Easy cleanup. Plenty of hot water. Back patio nice for morning coffee. Fish pond is very nice. The koi are beautiful. Monday night as we were all in the living room we got a strong skunk odor. If they are down from the trees or beach, wherever they live, I imagine they are after the fish. Lots of cars parked on the street but we always found spaces for our two vehicles right in front of the house. Easy walk down to view the ocean from clifftop.

Perfect Getaway Retreat Home!
My small family of 4, 2 adults, a 14 and 10 yr old sons, LOVED staying here! The most unique, tranquil, and beautiful vacation home we’ve stayed in. For my 50th bday, I was looking for a place within walking distance of the ocean and close enough to hiking trails that it wouldn’t be a chore to go. However, the quality of the home itself was more important than proximity to the beach (lots of beach homes are raggedy) because with Covid restrictions, most of our time would be in the home. Basically - I wanted to feel like outing opportunities were available, but Inwanted the home space to be a destination unto itself, in case we just wanted to lounge all day every day. Last “must-have”- a coffee shop in walking distance. This home EXCEEDED my expectations! I mean - the photos are accurate, but in person is really even better. I had actually skipped the home a few times because of what I wrongly perceived to be gaudy decor in the first room photo. But in person, it is actually quite lovely. Well, each family member found some corner of the home that became their primary hangout. The 10 yr old staked out the theater room and felt like the luckiest kid on earth. He also got the treat of his weekend when a cat entered the enclosed front yard space and allowed him to pet him for a long time. (We don’t have pets). The 14 yr old was content in the other small bedroom. He hardly ever left. Hubby enjoyed the back patio area and front yard. Me? I was all over the place! First day, the master bedroom. How could one not LOVE the space? So many architectural details to enjoy, from wood framed sliding doors and windows, to wooden beams. The soaking tub, the fireplace, the deck. 💕 In the following days I spent my mornings near the koi pond, laying out in the sun listening to Zen music and meditating. Pure bliss! Hubby and I also took long walks in the neighborhood, including several hours just exploring the area homes and coastline. Never made it to hiking area but we did get some refreshing rest at the beach. Hubby and I also admired the artwork in this home. It is like a gallery dedicated almost entirely to one artist. A David Robinson, who does really cool collages and watercolor paintings. The collages were especially inspiring to me. In addition to the home, the property management company was very easy to work with. When a few issues (like a missing trash can) came up, the rep (Ashley?) was very responsive and helpful. Great stay!
