This property was so much fun! Such a unique experience and one we will return to and recommend to others who appreciate such places. I had read that some have complained about the exterior of the caboose cars. I have to say, it adds to the allure and the reality is the inside where one sleeps is what needs to be clean and up to date. And the interiors were excellent! We loved our stay!

My grandson and I loved this property. Being able to stay in our own caboose was an unforgettable experience! Excellent food in the dining car restaurant as well.

My grandson had a wonderful time. He has autism and enjoyed his stay. However the rugs were dirty needs a cleaning there were no outside place to sit We will be back for our grandson

I found the staff to be pretty sullen but I wouldn't say unfriendly. But they weren't very welcoming. I sat down at the bar and waited 40 minutes until somebody came by. What bugged me most was staff Sitting by the bar in the small tables and saw me and nobody said anything.And I'm the one that had to ask if I could have some water. Who wasn't a great experience with the staff but the property was really nice. They seem to have a better connection with what seemed like locals. But maybe they just don't like people from out of town

The whole idea of sleeping in a train caboose was exciting! The rooms were super clean and nice. All the staff we encountered were beyond friendly. I would absolutely stay here again because the whole property was enjoyable.

A gem of a motel! It is convenient to all major attractions in the area, but is tucked away into its own little corner between picturesque Amish farms, so it’s safe and quiet. Our train car was spotless inside, everything looked new and/or freshly painted. The beds were super comfortable with the exception of pillows (these were very thin and soft, I prefer thicker foam ones, but that’s a matter of taste). Check-in and out was a breeze, and Casey Jones restaurant on site has awesome food. We will be returning for sure!

Staying at the Red Caboose Hotel is a wonderful experience for kids of all ages - at 63, I'm a kid at heart and I thoroughly enjoyed the time there with my wife! The conversion from an antique caboose (the real thing) to a small motel room was well done. Travelers should know that this is not a motel room that is made to look like a caboose, though. Most aspects of the "room" are small. It has a slight tilt and there are other imperfections. Check-in was fast and friendly. The AC, cable tv and wifi worked perfectly. The room was well insulated from outside sounds, heat and cold. There was a heavy wind and rain storm while we were there...no leaks and the "porch" served us well. The location is in the country, but there is an on-site restaurant that serves family friendly meals. Other dining and shopping options are just a few minutes drive from the site. The Strasburg Railroad passes right by the Red Caboose Hotel. Seeing and hearing it, from noon until five was exciting. We shopped at two antique stores and visited two small breweries (that served meals) in the town. I would recommend this to anyone that has an appreciation for adventure. If you are finicky or have other priorities, there are many chain hotel options in the Lancaster area. For me, the Red Caboose Hotel was just right!
