Watch the bountiful wildlife and the seasons change on the Big Sioux River while listening to the water flowing over the Klondike Dam from the large deck, lower level porch or new 7 person hot tub. The exterior to this home resembles a rustic cabin in the woods but is far from rustic once you enter the front door and see the modern amenities.
Most of this home is constructed from reclaimed lumber from the 1900s. Much of the wood is Southern Yellow pine with the Great Room constructed from reclaimed 2 x 6s. The Great Room on the main level overlooks the Big Sioux River through 2 large windows and a sliding glass door to an expansive covered balcony. The cabinets were hand made for the home from reclaimed lumber but the granite countertops offer elegance as well.
The main floor has a full kitchen, one bedroom and one full bathroom. It also has a cozy gas heater. The dining area has a large table for family card games, or just relaxing with your morning coffee looking out the large windows.
The lower level is a walkout with nine foot ceilings that gives it an open feel. There is two bedrooms, a bath, a laundry room and a family room with another cozy gas heater with remote thermostats. The entire lower level is completed in knotty pine with log style furniture to complement the rustic feel. It also offers a large TV, pull out queen sofa sleeper and electric recliner to enjoy a little down time watching that football game or movies or finish that great novel. There is a large log table here also to play cards, games or complete crossword puzzles. There is also a laundry room with Samsung washer and dryer. This level has a door which leads to a large covered patio, landscaped yard, and new hot tub! The river is less than 50 yards in front of this exit, but one will not be able to access the river from the home due to a very steep incline so the land is left natural with trees, tall grass and wild flowers.
You can access the river though, one block away at the historical Klondike dam site which now is closed to traffic, but offers a large bridge to fish from. Kayaks also enter and exit at this point for a beautiful experience down the Big Sioux River.

History
The Klondike Mill was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003, and given the #75000696.
Little remains of the Klondike Mill except an old stone wall and a few artifacts from the historical structure. It is located on the Iowa side of the dam where a bridge spans the Big Sioux River, just beneath the public access parking area.
Kayak or Canoe
There is a loading/exiting area approx. one block from the house where one can take the scenic 3.5 mile ride to Canton or exit from the up-river trail from Sioux Falls. The Canton trek is rated as one of the best with steep canyon sidewalls.
Bird-Animal watch
