Well Worth a Stay - a hidden gem

We have stayed at Casa Vela on a few occassions and never disappointed any time. It is also spotlessly clean and staff and very helpful and friendly and it is very tranquil and peaceful and very close walking distance to Cascais. Would highly recommend and cannot wait for our next stay.

We hope to be back

The grounds/ gardens, pools and sauna were a nice addition. The weather was good for us so we took advantage of the outdoor space (experienced a power outage that day) so the heaters not on. Our suite was lovely but we noticed a smell similar to "septic" coming from our bathroom. We thought it may have been the power issue-but it remained the whole time. The mattress could have been a bit more comfortable (personal choice) We still hope to return. Don't let those little items put you off. There is a wonder ambiance about this small hotel.

Very stylish hotel with cleverly integrated modern extension onto older building. Lovely gardens with good pool and tranquil seating options. It's a 15 minute walk to the centre of Cascais, not too far and ensures a peaceful setting. On-street parking that requires purchase of permit, needing change to feed meter (80 cents/hour, between 0900-2000, IIRC).

Our room was large, clean, and had a very nice patio that overlooked a pool, small waterfall and lovely landscaping. Breakfast was delicious. They also had coffee and cake available in the afternoon. A honor system bar exists near the breakfast room. Front desk staff was helpful and kind. I would recommend these accommodations. There is street-side metered parking.

Beautiful grounds if you like gardens as I do. No restaurants near by though. You will have to walk a few blocks or drive. A typical buffet continental breakfast offered and serviced by lovely staff members. Homey and beautifully decorated inside as well.

Quiet, comfortable unit. Wonderful buffet breakfast. I would recommend adding a extension cord with multiple outlets so that one has more charging ports rather than just one after unplugging the kettle!
