It is a good hotel location with great character. Some of the common areas are a little tired and would welcome some TLC. Our room was very small for the price we paid. We couldn’t stand on each side of the bed..

Lovely well maintained historical property. Polite staff. Cozy intimate bar. Nice buffet breakfast (fee).The king bed took up almost all the room, leaving no room for a chair for the small desk! Also did not care for the six stairs I had to climb once inside the room. Very convenient for many ethnic restaurants on Queensway . Across the street from Hyde Park. Would consider staying again, but will ask for a smaller bed and a room with no stairs. 8.5 out of 10.

The main parts of the hotel were beautiful - the reception, the stair case, the ceilings… but my room was terrible! It had a generator right outside the window, was very cramped, noisy air conditioner (when it worked, which it didn’t the first night so was very hot in the room) and the bed was pretty uncomfortable with cheap pillows. Overall not a good room experience at all! Breakfast was good though and it’s very close to the tube station which is good.

Our stay began with a less-than-ideal experience. We arrived late for our four-night visit and found ourselves in a room with a window that faced the hotel hallway. The concierge kindly suggested we check back in the morning for a possible room change. We managed to make the best of it for the night. The following day, after a brief discussion with the staff, a manager escorted us to a new room with a window that opened up to the outside world, which was a welcome change. However, the room itself was quite compact, and the bathroom was similarly small, lacking a shower curtain, making it feel more like a splash zone than a bathroom. We also noticed some overlooked cleanliness issues, including forgotten items under the furniture and stained towels. While I didn’t expect luxury given the price, I did leave feeling somewhat disappointed, wishing we had chosen a different place. On a positive note, the hotel’s location is excellent—a quick two-minute walk to two tube stations, with numerous grocery stores and pubs nearby. If you’re considering this hotel, I recommend exploring other options for a more enjoyable stay.

It was much nicer than I expected Staff was very kind Hotel was charming, older, classic English,of a certain era. We loved it. I took the time to phone the hotel directly to let them know we would be arriving rather late…. I also requested a room with a bathtub which we were granted. We were pleased with all of it and will be returning

We loved the history of the property, the bar area, and how well the cleaning staff attended to our room. We loved the entry areas. The condition of the bathroom (cracked sink, rusted spot in tub), stained light shades, broken tv remote, left something to be desired. We also happened to book a room that was on the inside of the building and could often hear staff down below. We never tried the breakfast because there were many other options outside of the hotel that we could bring into Hyde Park on our morning walks. The park is just steps outside the hotels main doors. The building was in an excellent location for hopping on the tube for both Central and Circle lines. Very easy to get to all landmarks and sightseeing

Loved the location and the old charm of this hotel. It was super convenient to get on transit and plenty to do within walking distance. The only really (and large) downfall was that the staff at the front desk was not very welcoming. After a long day of travel - trying to check in with the front desk was not a great experience. They made us feel like we were inconveniencing them.

I have travelled/stayed in London many times over 5 decades. This is my favourite hotel without hesitation. The location to 2 tube lines and Hyde Park is a dream, but that’s only one of the many benefits…..This hotel also has a cheeky royal story to tell to its guests…. The stunning lower floors are like a time capsule, oozing history and boasting décor & finishes invoking serious wealth, and lavish taste The rooms are quiet, the beds crisp and comfortable, and the staff are focused on guests feeling valued The breakfast team deliver the best I’ve had in a London hotel, consistently fresh and delicious, under the caring leadership of Carmen Grande Royale will be my go-to hotel until the sad day when it’s so popular I can no longer get a room………

Foul sewage back up smell in the room 24x7. There is a construction happening and which starts at 7 am and is too loud to sleep. Carpets are torn and dirty all over. Building is old but the maintainance is very bad . Location is great but personally would not recommend anyone due to disgusting smell in room.

Loved the look of the hotel, the staff, and location. The door to our room had to be forced closed and the bathroom was not in good shape. The tub is too raised for tall individuals and our room had a hole in the roof of the bathroom that was leaking on the days it rained.

Great find. Right outside of Hyde Park and near Notting Hill. Check in was quick, only issue was there are several steps to get into the hotel with our luggage but the staff helped once they knew we were coming inside. Clean rooms. The hotel is in the city so it's noisy but it's to be expected. I would stay again, although the rooms are typically small so fair warning if you're staying with a friend or even a spouse/significant other.
