The Hotel DC has been recently refurbished, so is definitely a cut above many of the other budget offerings in East London. It's somewhat inconveniently placed for public transport being 12-15 minutes walk from either of two Elizabeth Line stations (Maryland and Forest Gate), and the area feels a little edgy at night; you might need to get a taxi if you had more than a backpack for luggage. My room, in the basement, was fine, the shower worked well, and no issues with Wifi or TV. The green light on the emergency backup light (I think) was surprisingly bright and the card control for power flashed blue all night - neither stopped me getting to sleep, but both were a little annoying, and the extract fan from the bathroom was quite noisy. There's a kettle in the room, and rather better coffee 24/7 available in reception, but no decaf available. Breakfast was simple, with fried eggs, baked beans, hash browns, bacon and pork sausage available, plus a choice of cereals, and dilute fruit squash rather than juice - no yoghurts or pastries. All in all, for the location - a 20 minute bus ride from the ExCel Centre, it offered good value and I wouldn't hesitate staying there again for a couple of nights.

Ok for the price with a couple of added extras.
Comfortable little room. Fairly quiet. Reception staff very helpful and friendly. Good cooked breakfast. Not the cleanest room I’ve stayed in. Took it upon myself to wipe off two large bogeys from the wall. The shower head desperately needed replacing.

Super clean, Ac works and staff are cool.
The room and bathroom was super clean… the air conditioning was actually working - been to some London hotels to be surprised the ACs don’t work, so it was a pleasant surprise. Hotel looks new and most say it’s the best when on a budget. Did I mention room comes with breakfast..? Not too much of a variety but quite decent and worth the price. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Visiting 02 stayed at DC. Perfect
Was very pleasantly surprised on the standard of accommodation for the bargain price. On arrival was greeted with lovely guys behind the reception who upgraded our room to two double beds. The room was clean and the beds very comfortable all we needed for the two nights that we stayed. Breakfast free and very satisfactory coffee machine available all day. Will definitely stay again when visiting London

I have stayed here before and will definitely stay again. Although the hotel doesn't do food you can order in and use their tables, chairs, crockery and cutlery. Free hot and cold drinks are available in reception as well as kettle etc in room. Having glasses in the room would be useful for cold drinks. I did find the duvet was tucked in too low on the bed so I had to dismantle the bottom of the bedding to enable me to use the duvet correctly. Breakfast good but a bit chaotic when busy due to the small area at the end of the dining room but there is little that can be done about this.

Functional but exceptionally clean room
Just needed an inexpensive stay in London for one night. This hotel was perfect. Location was just what I needed (not too far a walk from Stratford station) and the room was perfectly clean. It was small but comfortable. A basic breakfast was included, it that was all I needed. Great little hotel.
