ABOUT THE SAND AND THE EVER CHANGING BEACH: In the spring, the tide begins to carry sand in from the ocean and deposit it on the beach. The sand on the beach becomes deeper each week and by late summer can be several feet deep. During the winter, the process is reversed. The tide begins to carry the sand back out to the ocean. At times there can be no sand on the beach exposing the cobble (football sized rocks) that is ordinarily covered by sand. The cobble can be dificult to walk on.

My wife and I stayed here for six nights with two children ages 6 & 9. Everyone loved it. If you like the sound of waves rolling onto a beach a few feet away, then you will love this. If you don't like listening to or looking at the ocean, this isn't for you. The home has two separately listed units; "Walls of Glass" is at PCH level, and is two flights of stairs down to the beach. "Walls of Glass on the Sand" is one flight of stairs underneath, one flight of stairs above the sand. One thing we were pleasantly surprised by was the lack of road noise. I assumed we would hear several exotic cars being put to the test on PCH, espeially during the weekend, but the waves were far more prevalent. The beach is fantastic, and for someone who grew up in Southern California it was surreal having such a beautiful beach to ourselves several times. You won't always have the beach to yourselves, but for us, more often than not, we did. This alone should put the place on the radar for someone in LA looking for a 'staycation' without the hastle of traveling. Often saw sea lions playing in the water, and on one occasion even saw a pod of dolphins. The unit is well appointed and efficient. Open living room has a comfortable leather sofa with chair, along with a small dining table that seats four comfortably and a table on the outdoor deck that can also seat four. There is a bar by the efficient kitchen with three stools as well.

Loved the view and wildlife just outside the window. Beach was good, but really only usable at low tide. Convenient to multiple other beaches and to some good restaurants.

Magical Views
The views from this property are absolutely stunning. Sitting on our deck we saw an otter, dolphins, and even some whales in the distance. The stars were also incredibly clear overhead, which surprised us given the proximity to a big city. Views from the master bedroom are 100% ocean. We slept with the windows open and enjoyed the ocean sounds and the cool breeze. There are steps leading down directly to the beach. Depending on the tide, sometimes the steps lead directly into the ocean and there was no beach, but on most days, we were able to walk on the beach in either direction. The place is located right on the Pacific Coast Highway, with Santa Monica Pier 20-30 minutes in one direction and the Santa Monica Mountains 20 minutes in the other direction. There are also plenty of restaurants, shops, and public beaches everywhere in between both spots. The place is quite comfortable though not fancy. We had all that we needed for meals at home, and we made lots of use of the patio table and chairs. I barely sat down indoors! One and a half baths and two bedrooms with comfortable and firm beds with lots of extra blankets and pillows. There were also multiple washing machines in the garage and plenty of towels. We had everything we needed, and we will definitely return!

Our stay was fantastic! Everything you could need was provided. Location was fantastic. The property was appointed nicely. My family and I very much enjoyed nightly dolphin watching right outside on the rear patio. Don, the host, was responsive and offered lots of great advice for first time vistors. Very Cute condo and the views were great!! My daughter and I stayed for a week for her to take some classes down the road. The weather didn't let us enjoy the balcony or walking on the beach because it rained almost the whole week. But I am thankful for the much needed rain! The home is on the older side but very clean. It was nice to have access to the washer and dryer in the garage as well. Traffic is busy on that road getting in and out but we managed well. Thanks so much Don!

This was a wonderful home right on the beach! Don is an excellent host and was in frequent communication with me. He also provided excellent instructions and vacation ideas prior to and then again on arrival. The view was spectacular and we sat on the deck for hours enjoying it. The beach is awesome and literally 50 steps from the front door. Was the home perfect? Almost! The tub could use a refinishing and the floor was a bit dusty (we cleaned it in 5 minutes) but this is one of the best VRBO rental experiences we have had and are already planning on a return visit. I rate this a 9 out of 10.

Impossible to sleep with the noise, interior is not kept up well, also with a dirty bathroom. The master bedroom mattress sits on a plywood board. All beds are uncomfortable. Kitchen has almost no supplies. I ended up staying only 1 out of the 6 nights I booked because it was impossible to sleep there. The owner said he’d refund me days and then stopped communicating with me with no refund.

The View!!!
We had such a wonderful time on our Malibu Getaway! Thank you for sharing your property with us. It can’t get better than finding a place right at the waters edge. We loved the view and the sound of the ocean and the waves crashing on the shoreline. The property owner was prompt and very courteous in responding to any questions or communications we had. Great location, run-down condo
The location, directly on the ocean, is what makes this rental interesting and possibly worth the price. Otherwise, the place is cheerless, not very clean (some parts of the interior, e.g. the floor fan, were downright filthy), not very well maintained (the balcony/terrace has not seen a clean ever? and the outside table was dirty and ugly). The communication with the owner was faultless and very clear, and the checkin process as smooth as possible. There were plenty of towels.

Great view but....
First off, Don is a great host. Super accomodating, kind and easy to communicate with. The listing is in a great location, right on the water and has a fantastic view. The "walls of glass" really stop you dead in your tracks when you walk in, it's impressive. But that's really about it as far as what this place offers. Starting with the positive, all the basics covered in the kitchen and the bed was very comfortable. That said, the floors felt dirty, there was hair on the walls in the bathroom and in the shower from the prior guests. Paint chipping, blinds in poor condition, rusty and dusty, for the amount / night, the host should consider giving the place a little face lift to make guests feel more comfortable.
