Come and stay within the west wing of this imposing mansion house and former Allhallows School, on the exclusive Rousdon estate. Just minutes from Lyme Regis, but with all the privacy, peace and rural idyl of the estate; this will tick all boxes for your family get together.
This impeccably renovated Grade II listed mid-Victorian home is part of the mansion house originally constructed for Sir Henry W Peek, within the Victorian walled village of Rousdon. Between 1937-1999 the property played home to Allhallows boys school (later Allhallows College), before returning to its current residential status and collective of utterly unique homes, each with their distinctive heritage and charm.

The exterior of West House displays the Franco Flemish flair and design of the main mansion house, step inside however and the layout is unmistakably Victorian; sensationally proportioned rooms, high, ornately detailed ceilings and an exquisite drawing room, all underpinned with period sprung parquet and slate flooring.

The kitchen, primary living space and drawing room are on the first floor. The Greco Roman marble fireplace takes centre stage pillared either side with Triton to remind you of the coastal connection and location of this most elegant property right on the Jurassic Coast.

The kitchen features a unique Brazilian slate floor, granite kitchen tops, farmhouse style sink, walk in larder and toasty warm Aga. There is oodles of space to prep your guests meals and a superb dining table overlooking the courtyard.

Sleeping up to 8 guests over four Bedrooms, all guest rooms are located on the upper three floors. With two king size bedrooms, one double room and one twin room, there is a useful configuration for families and friends planning to celebrate or holiday together. The master king room is simply breathtaking and features a wonderful pineapple themed four poster mahogany bed. Crisp white linens will ensure the soundest of sleeps following your days out exploring the Jurassic Coast.

Guests to the estate have exclusive access to a private beach, Charton Bay which is a challenging 45 minute walk down the forestry track and coastal foot path. Those braving the tramp, will be rewarded with an unspoilt and very peaceful pebble beach, perfect for an afternoon sunbathe and swim.

West House living space and bedrooms are set over 5 floors. The house is not wheelchair friendly and unsuitable for those with mobility issues.

Dogs are permitted to stay at West House for a small supplement of £60

Parking available for two cars only, a short walk away in the car park.

West House adjoins and sits between two other permanent private residences. Parties, Stags, Hens are not permitted. As per Booking T&Cs any evidence provided to Unique Holiday Stays of partying and/or anti social behaviour will result in immediate eviction of all guests from the property, and retention of the security deposit.

Strictly no smoking (including e-cigarettes and vapes), as per the property Fire Risk Assessment. This includes immediately in front of the property in the courtyard area. Guests are politely requested to smoke away from the property and dispose of cigarette butts responsibly.

Beautiful property, wonderful attention to detail. A better description on how to get to the private beach would be helpful. Some availability to outside space for coffee in the morning would have made it perfect
