Outdated
This property had old broken blinds up and the decor is very outdated. There was no room for you to turn around your vehicle. You could pull in but could not turn around to get off the property, without backing up at least 3 times and I was in a small suv.

Comfortable
The experience renting this property was uncomplicated. We would have preferred a more private setting and a working fire place but overall it was comfortable.

Great cabin but management is poor
Cabin was great but management had no communication about check in. Tried calling several times about issues they sometimes returned call. We had to ask another renter how to check it. The cabin is bare! Be prepared no toilet paper or dish soap or anything. The cabin is in a great location and very cute. Sadly customer service is extremely poor. Thanks

Disappointed
The cabin’s structures and the grounds were clean, but the inside maintenance and housekeeping were disappointing. The outside doors were easily pushed open when locked, which were supposed to be open with a key. There was not another lock to secure the cabin, in and a key wasn’t needed to enter the cabin when either inside or outside the cabin, the blinds on both doors were broken, the microwave was sparking as if metal had been placed in it and the floors had not been swept or mopped when we arrived Thanksgiving. When I informed Carolina Vacations, they only apologized for the inconvenience, and we informed them that we had purchased garbage bags to place on the doors for privacy...that’s it. We were there three days. We didn’t bother letting them in on the rest of the issues. We were just disappointed and cannot recommend Carolina Vacations or Mountain Joy Cottages.

Incredibly disappointing!
The cabin itself is well built and, although small, attractive (wood vaulted ceiling and walls). The furnishings were OK. The issue was FILTH. The place has not been remotely cleaned or maintained for a LONG time. This is no short-term issue (e.g. COVID). This is willful neglect by management. We dropped something small. Looking for it under the bed and bedside table was GROSS! KItchen lighting globes were gross. Fridge gasket is moldy. Entire floor was filthy. I wore socks inside the first day. Never again. Towels were small, cheap and thin. Took two calls and two days to address ants in kitchen and bathroom. Blinds at all windows are gross. One of the blinds has a missing slat. Outside trees are growing in gutters, railroad ties used in landscaping are rotted. Fence rails broken. Absolutely no consideration of COVID cleaning and a day between renters. We saw "cleaning people" go into nearby cabins, change linens (they carried in) and back out in a few minutes. New renters hours later. IF you choose to stay there, you will need to bring dish soap, hand/shower soap, TP, PT, Kleenex - even hangers. The sad thing is that the place itself would be fine if management/owners took care of the property. The cabin itself is well built. The pond and ducks are enjoyable.

Great little cabin for 2 + 2 pooches
We absolutely loved our stay at this property! The cabin was in a perfect location, and the back deck was one of our favorite parts! It overlooked a little pond and we were lucky enough to see a big bull elk come and enjoy the pond for a few minutes (it was early in the morning and he came by to lay down and slurp up some water before heading on his way)! Great Smoky Mountains National Park was a short drive away and we were close enough to the main drive that getting places was pretty convenient. We would most definitely stay here again if ever in the area!

The bed is amazing to sleep in, so comfortable. The view was nice and we even saw an Elk! The décor in the cabin was rustic and gave a warm country feel. The pond below was entertaining when ducks would come to visit. We truly enjoyed our stay. The only issue we encountered was the toilet seat in the bathroom was wobbly and needed to be replaced. Otherwise the cabin was perfect during our stay. We do plan to come back and choose Cabin #12!!

Relax
Nice cabin convenient to town and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Quiet location. The king bed was extremely comfortable!! Some of the outdoor lights did not work. There was some hairs in the jacuzzi tub which deterred is from using it. Cigarette butts were left in a little hanging tin pail on the deck as well as several cigarette butts on the ground outside. Would be a 5 if not for the butts and the hairs.
