This was by far the best part of my trip, staying here. The food was great, the hostel rooms were clean and comfortable. The 5 bedroom door had great air con to keep it cool at night. Lots of local trips close by. Would go back :)
the diving is great, the island beautiful, yiu pay for being there. we stayed 5 days and it was ok

Great Location
We went back to Mana to relive our past experiences of the great snorkelling from the beaches... and while the coral has been decimated (from hurricanes), it is regenerating and the snorkelling is still pretty good
I'll start with the good:
The staff:
The staff at the resort are incredible. And that's a major understatement. They go out of their way to learn your name and say hello. In all staff are incredible.
The dive team:
I came as an inexperienced diver (10 dives) and left with 12 more dives and felt like I was a much better diver afterwards. Fletch, Krysta, and Lexi are very kind, very knowledgable, and extremely genuine people. I could not have asked for a better group to learn from. I would recommend this hostel solely based on those 3.
The bad:
I stayed in a 5 bed dormitory and I didn't expect much considering I'd be on an island for 7 days. The room was actually quite decent, with a/c. However, the bathrooms were not maintained. The bathroom door didn't close properly, the shower heads had hardly any pressure or really much water coming out at all, making it difficult to shower after diving.
The cleanliness was the other issue. Nearly everyday we had to ask for toilet paper rolls.
And I was unfortunate enough to have left with bed bug bites all over my body. This easily could have been from another traveler bringing them into the room as I had not gotten bitten until the last 2 nights of my stay there, but it was quite annoying and I had 2 sleepless nights. Other than the rooms, the rest of the hostel was clean and nice to stay in though. And I had only heard of one other person having bed bug issues.
Overall:
I have to recommend this place simply for the hospitality.

Great cheap backpackers on a magnificent island
Loved this place. We enjoyed the setting, the people, the interaction with the village, the food. Didn't expect no hot water but that was fine.
Our family of two adults and three kids (7, 5, 3) had such a great time at Ratu Kini. Our kids played with the local kids at the school next door to our bure every day when school was out at 3pm. Such a memorable holiday. Its not your typical over priced resort. Its also not for everyone. But if you like getting back to basics and getting to know some fabulous Fijian people, then I reccomend Ratu Kini.
Everyone at Ratu Kini treated us as friends right from the first moment.
Our kids were a major focus of their attention, which obviously the kids loved. Its a very relaxed atmosphere, more so than other resorts teeming with people.
Will we go back. Absolutely. Cant wait.
The staff were fantastic , especially with the children. The meals pretty good. Activities were great, we got to go to Castaway Island and the coral island when the tide was too low to snorkel at Mana. Had a school visit and entertainment everynight. Our bure was in the village - it was comfortable and clean. We were sad to leave and will go back for sure.
I arrived there to be told most of the island is closed 95% at least is off limits, due to the filming of American survivor. There were security guards everywhere no allowing guests access to anywhere. There was only a small strip of beach available to use, I felt trapped like I was imprisioned. The first day if rained with heavy winds there was nothing to do in these circumstances. I emailed ahead with photocopy of my passport as per website to obtain a vodaphone sim card. I got my card paid for it then it didn't work as it has been registers to someone else. I stood for two hours at reception eventually in tears trying to sort this out, they reception staff were not interested I felt like I was a problem to them. I needed a SIM card as I have a health condition and needed to make calls if necessary. They were trying to contact the resort director in the main land for instruction who again did not seem interested in helping only taking my money. Not a great start to my holiday. The food was bad mostly fried rubbish very little fresh fruit or vegetables and very expensive, $5.00 fir a bottle of water and as the water is not drinkable there there were no other choices as to where we could eat or drink. They said they run trips each day but there speed boars were both out if action due to engine failure. The few short trips I did go on the boat engine gave out, I one case we were trapped in the blasing sun for a hour+. There is more I could say if I had room to wright more.
I was just island hopping and stayed here for one night. It was great to be with local staff who were friendly and laid back. I took a paddle board around the island and was out for a lot longer than intended / than I paid for --- they were very relaxed about it. Good people here.

Facilities: Basic; Value: Affordable; Service: Friendly; Cleanliness: Tidy;
layout of island allowed for access to variousgood beaches. Ignore what they say about not going to some because of the resort. No one complained
Tauchen war gut, Essen völlig überteuert, unser Zimmer lag im hinteren Teil des Dorfes in etwas unangenehmer Nachbarschaft. Die Bungalows am Strand gelegen sind empfehlenswerter
awful experience. about 90% of the Island is closed because of tv series shooting. it's been closed for 4 months already and will be atleast for another 2months. u have only 1 beach wich is dirty and there is broken glass here and there.
the hotel manager did Nothing to make our stay better. he promised free dinner for us but when we tried to get it he said he wouldn't give cause he changed his mind. first room we had was family bungalow and at night it was full of grasshoppers. we complained about it and got another room which was good. until morning we were full of biting marks, BED BUGS!!!!
Please don't ruin your holiday like we did and Don't go there!
