A VRBO Monet
House was easy to find, check-in was simple. Views spectacular. HOWEVER. I've NEVER rented a VRBO and not had the host or someone they designated available to respond to issues. When I contacted him the first morning with a couple issues the only response I received was "I'm sorry I'm away from the cape".
As for the house: I had to buy a coffeemaker, the listed coffeemaker didn’t work. Had to buy a drain plug in order to use the bathtub. Could not find the washer & dryer in the listing. The kitchen cupboard doors - either come unhinged or the handle comes off or they won’t close properly after being opened. There were a few outlets missing with just gaping holes in the wall. The water was lukewarm at best with the exception of the kitchen sink. The entry bathroom had no water at all in the sink, the upstairs bath only had cold water in one sink. The final straw was midweek when we came back from shoping to find - with zero contact from the owner - nearly the entire driveway taken up by a huge boat that had been dropped off effectively blocking use of the garage (listed as an amenity) and making access of the sidewalk difficult. We ended up leaving a day early.
I've never had to write a bad review on VRBO. I absolutely expected more from this property based on the listing. And I ALWAYS expect the host to be available to take care of small issues that may arise within a reasonable time frame. Considering the host fee was 1/3 of the entire cost this situation was ridiculous.
