The house has a lot of charm though it needs to be spruced up. The home had a musty odor that did not go away with air fresheners nor ceiling fans and a/c. It was tidy however needs a thorough cleaning i.e. hallway and bathroom vents coated with dust. The door knob of one bedroom was not fixed as noted by prior renter. We did not cook other than a light meal for breakfast. Neither the backyard or BBQ grill was used.
Note to owner: The 2 step downs - one in the kitchen and the other in the back bedroom should be made more visible to renters to avoid potential liability issues.
Kindly note for anyone who is a light sleeper there are neighborhood dogs who are barkers and cargo trains which run through.
Memphis attractions did not disappoint us at all. In addition to Graceland, we highly recommend the National Civil Rights Museum, and National Ornamental Metal Museum. Other highlights include Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Elmwood Cemetery, Blues Hall of Fame, Mud Island River Park, Bass Pro Shop at the Pyramid, Sun Studio, and Dixon Gallery & Gardens. Our visit would not have been complete without listening to music in both downtown and Cooper Young areas.
We ate at restaurants that served dry and wet BBQ but one of our favorite meals was at Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken in downtown. By far the best fried chicken we have ever eaten. Other restaurants we recommend include Beauty Shop, Soul Fish Cafe, Stickem, Public Bistro, and Huey's Midtown.
