Over water splurge
Over water bungalow was beautiful, would have preferred an even number room (facing away from the rest of the hotel) — request that if possible. Did inclusive package with meals and drinks, lots of great options (even for me as a vegetarian). Lovely staff — Fifita and Adì Elenoa stood out as particularly kind and friendly. We started missing the hotel the day we left.

Let me start by saying we have stayed at many resorts in many locations around the world. The level of customer service we experienced at Marriott Momi Bay is by far the best we have ever had! We were initially blown away not only by the gorgeous property and facilities when we arrived, but what really impressed us more is the amount of genuine love, warmth, and hospitality we felt not by some. Not by most. But every_single_Marriott employee we interacted with. Their "bula" spirit is what sets this resort apart from the rest. We thought Hawaiians aloha spirit was the pinnacle, but the Fijians at Momi Bay take it to a whole new level! I can go on and on about their customer service but want to touch on our entire stay. Room: we stayed in a Lagoon Duplex Bure about half way around the lagoon. Easy walk from the front of the resort. Our room was clean and we were welcomed by beautiful towel swans and a Happy Anniversary spelled out with palm leave pieces. Thats above and beyond what we expected! There was plenty of space throughout for the 2 of us. The bed was comfy(8 out of 10). The layout of the bathroom was both unique and well laid out. I like that the shower is on the opposite side of the toilet and the soak tub is dead center. Freshly cleaned robes came in handy after a shower or bath and you have sliding shutter doors for privacy. There is also plenty of storage space for clothes. Pros: Overwater Bure was amazing quality and design! Staff were super friendly (make sure to see Pio at the Lagoon Lounge)! Served drinks to overwater bure guests via boat (this was super fun)! Generally food was good. Spa was excellent. Flowers everywhere! There are some park areas with hammocks near the beachfront bures and made great location for sunset viewing and taking in the ocean waves. Cons: Lots of carts on the walking paths and you need to move out of the way (a ton of carts!) They need to have an on-stage/off-stage design for staff and guests. The lagoon is not clear water (it's murky blue due to how it was made) and for us, this made it really hard to get in the water not being able to see the bottom. If you love the ocean - this might not be an issue for you. We saw sting-rays and needle fish. Breakfast was just OK and cold. If you are looking for a quiet adult vacation, consider the beach bures over the over-water bures. This is a family resort and there were lots of kids at the pools (which are near the over-water bures). The adults only pool is on the far end of the resort and is small.

The staff overall were very friendly and accomodating, except the night duty manager, who was incompetent and lies. The room was great but air con constantly not working. Wifi doesn’t work, have to call front desk every hour to get a new code. Room service (just for beer) takes and hour and they ask you what the price is. Missed opportunity to show guests the facilities on arrival, you’re dropped to your room and left to figure it out with no wifi and very little details. Fish bar was fantastic and the staff were excellent. Goji bar was average and some staff were good. Beach was clean and water great. Room facilities were great. I would try another property on my next visit.
