18th Century Gascon cottage with private pool and large grounds

Cottage in Gers, Midi-Pyrenees, France: Peyrouat is a pretty, spacious and private 18th century cottage among rolling sunflower fields. The cottage has been recently renovated to include all modern comforts whilst maintaining many original features such as stonework, beams and fireplace. The private grounds are very extensive and include many old trees, a shady orchard, open land for playing games and, of course, the private 11x 5 metre swimming pool. There is a very large sunbathing terrace and a further covered terrace with barbecue for dining, all south and west facing so extremely sunny right into the late evening. The surrounding undulating countryside is very peaceful, planted with sunflowers, vines and wheat. Medieval bastide villages abound: the nearest, Montréal, is 6 kilometres away.

Food and Wine: We are surrounded by Armagnac producers and excellent Côtes de Gascogne, also nearby St.Mont, and Madiran. Gascony is foodie country - confit and magret of duck and goose, foie gras, melons from Lectoure and prunes from Agen are found in the many local markets and restaurants. Great spot for gourmets.

Tourist Attractions: Local medieval bastide villages such as Laressingle and moated Fourcès. Historical monuments such as Roman Seviac or the Abbaye de Flaran. Attractive towns, such as Condom, Lectoure and Auch, within easy reach. Day trips to the pine forests and Atlantic surfing beaches of Les Landes; to Biarritz, the Basque region (and Lourdes) or the Pyrenées. Toulouse and Bordeaux are also within easy reach.

Activities: Within 10 minutes there is a golf course at Guinlet (18 holes). Also tennis, horse-riding, boating on canal and river at nearby Condom, and several pleasure lakes closeby. Peyrouat lies on the Camino Real, / Chemin de St Jacques, the ancient pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostella. Many modern pilgrims still walk this route today, and it is an easy walk to Laressingle or Montreal from the house.
During your stay at this cottage, you'll be close to Château de Larressingle. Enjoy your stay with amenities like a private pool and a kitchen in the cottage.

Fabulous Stay
We very much enjoyed our time at the cottage, the privacy, peace and quiet was exactly what we needed and we were able to rest and relax by the pool and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature in the lovely garden. Peyrouat is relatively isolated, 10 minutes to Montréal and 14 minutes to Condom, which might not work for everyone, and you will need a car, but, don't let that put you off! It is also important to be aware that the WiFi is variable and slow and the mobile phone signal can be better in the garden, but all this is clearly explained in the information. Support from Lisa, the Gite manager, was impeccable; she was there immediately when we had an emergency and, for the odd query, Edwin and Kitty, the owners, were quick to respond. If Peyrouat appeals to you, you will love it and we are pleased to highly recommend this cottage.

Beautiful Property
We had a wonderful time at Peyrouat. We found the gite to be even prettier than the photos suggested. Situated in lovely secluded area - the children loved the huge private gardens and beautiful pool. Excellent communication with Kitty and Edwin. Thank you for a fantastic stay.

Wonderful relaxing family break
Peyrouat is a real gem of a place. If you’re looking for total relaxation, peace and quiet coupled with plenty to see and do within a short distance then look nowhere else. The house itself is extremely comfortable and well equipped and we spent so much time enjoying the grounds and glorious pool as the weather was scorching all week! It’s within 15-20 minutes of Montreal de Gers, Gondrin with its water park, perfect for kids, Condom, Fourcès and canoeing at Beaucaire. Valence sur Baise also worth a visit on the way back from Beaucaire. All in all a fantastic week and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Very well equipped, nice and remote and private, definitely require transport. The only draw down was it was quite away from shops and restaurants but we were aware of that.

Bucolic Delight!
This pretty and generally well modernized cottage is set in the most idyllic of Northern Gers countryside, (there simply is no better) with absolute privacy in the most glorious of grounds. The swimming pool, with charming pump house, is in a perfect location some 30 metres from the cottage. A lovely seating area, with views of the grounds and beyond, makes an ideal spot for evening drinks in the sun. Our thanks to Lisa and the lovely pool man - We had a fabulous two weeks and were sad to leave. Warwick & Jane September 2021.

Fabulously relaxing stay
Such a wonderful place to spend our first family holiday in two years, a delightfully peaceful house and very spacious and well kept gardens. There is so much outside space for everyone to take themselves away to read, rest and thoroughly relax. The pool was a real treat in the gloriously warm weather. We spent time visiting family who live in Valence-sur-Baise so were out and about a fair bit, it is only a short drive to Condom and lovely villages dotted around. Excellent communication with Kitty and Edwin, your patience with our moving the dates was much appreciated. We honestly could not have asked for more, so much thought has gone into providing everything in the house, very well equipped kitchen, nice to have a teapot! Would highly recommend and would not hesitate to book again, thank you so much.

lovely gite in the French countryside located in the Gers region. Stayed August 2016
The property was clean tidy and well maintained. There is a great pool with sun beds and umbrellas and lovely spacious gardens. The gite is very well equipped and includes BBQ. The property is in a rural location and a car is essential, however, there are lovely villages to explore in the surrounding areas, wine and Armanac tasting at Cassolgnes, Pellehauat etc. Markets at Eauze, Condom and Lectoure worth a visit. The owner has also provided bikes which you are welcome to use to explore the surrounding areas. It ensure a very relaxing holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay (been coming for about 9/10 years) and look forward to returning again.

We have enjoyed our visit to Peyrouat. The house and grounds are lovely and the pool great for 32C.
A lovely house and garden in the beautiful region of Gascony. The house has a galleried lounge with sleeping space on the upper level as well as double bedrooms on the ground and first floors. The pool is immaculate and was very welcome during a week with temperatures between 30-34C and no rain! Condom, Eauze (particularly the market) , Larressingle and the D’Artagnan museum at Lupiac are all worth a visit. It is 29 years since we last visited the area and we were delighted to see that it has retained its unspoilt beauty particularly in the bastide towns that cling to the hillsides. A beautiful property and location - a truly relaxing break.
Peyrouat is set in beautiful grounds and is surrounded by stunning scenery. We enjoyed our time so much - the accommodation was a real home from home; the boys loved the pool; and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. We visited the castle at Larrasingle; visited Bordeaux and the local swimming centre in Condom, however, we really did not need to leave Peyrouat at all. We enjoyed bike rides and walks soaking up the sun. Thank you for providing everything... We hope to return one day. Mr and Mrs Barlow

Beautiful cottage and countryside
We had a lovely few days here. V relaxing with lots of space outside with a v well maintained pool to cool off in the afternoons. Surrounded by fields and vineyards with lots of beautiful walking to do from the front door. Would recommend to a family who want a large enclosed garden for the kids to run around.

escape from it all
This property is located in peaceful contryside, has character and plenty of space. The garden is very large and the private pool of a very good size and gets sun all day, with water temperature 26-28 degrees. The solar shower is a nice touch. We found the house suitably equiped and perfect for a family of 4, with 2 children (aged 8 and 11). Good wifi and satilite TV if you had had enough of the sunshine! Pool towels, linen and cleaning are all included, so no cleaning on the day of departure. We felt that the price was good value when compared to other properties.

perfect stay in lovely house and area
The house was very functional and comfortable. A week of very hot weather meant the pool was fabulous. The gardens were spacious and peaceful and there was plenty to visit locally - medieval towns, a Gallo-Roman villa, wonderful markets with delicious fruit and veg. An idyllic week in a very beautiful area of France. And of course cheese and wine galore !
