Would be a 5 star except the pool was closed and the breakfast buffet was okay. I wish they just did a nice scrambled egg instead of the egg cake things that were not the best. The pool being closed was not necessarily the hotels fault as they had updated Expedia but it was only mentioned in the FAQ section. However the Manager gave me a refund for 1 of my nights as it was not easy to notice that on the Expedia site. Overall a nice stay.

This was our second stay here over the last two weeks. We came back because the hotel location was good for us and our first room on the 3rd floor was nicely appointed and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was fairly good. Our second 3 night stay was in a ground floor room that was not as comfortable as the first. We were disappointed that the pool was still closed after ten days due to water quality issues. Having worked in the pool industry for many years I find this unacceptable. The construction on the exterior of the hotel building seemed to be ramping up with construction activity in many areas. The breakfast was fairly good our first stay but was not nearly as good the second stay. Food was either cooked too much or not enough. Although our second stay was good it wasn’t up to the standards of our first stay. I would attribute this to being on the ground floor and the increased construction on the building envelope and the lower quality of the breakfast.

Room was clean and fairly quiet but the hotel is being renovated and there was construction noises going on around us from 8 am on. Staff were friendly and helpful. When we tried to turn the heater on there was a blast of a burning smell that filled the room and unit fan was noisy. We found we didn’t need the heat so it was acceptable.

The hotel is convenient and easy to find on the outer edge of the city, and we took taxis into the centre rather than driving. The receptionist was very helpful whenever I had reason to ask and gave lots of details of how to use the Metro system to get around.

Coming back from a trip the outside area of the property was dar, the light posts were not lit. Brought it up to the desk manager and was not seemed concerned. There was no security checked done if areas are well lit or safe for the guests. There were electricity outages 3 times started at 2:22 am, which woke us up due to the microwave made loud sound. The smoke alarm battery sounded off beeping at 5:33 am the following morning, which again unable for us to sleep. Obviously no maintenance checks were done on smoke detectors.

Can one bad apple spoil the whole basket?
When we walked into our room, we were greeted with a very foul smell. It was late at night when we checked in so my wife said not to say anything because we wouldn’t be there that long. We thought we’d get use to the smell, but never did. Added to the smell was the poorest breakfast offering we have ever seen at a Hampton Inn. One nice thing about our room was the bathroom had been recently remodeled and was pretty nice. This was by far the worst Hampton Inn we have ever stayed in. I mentioned the nice bathroom and foul smell to the desk clerk when we checked out. We wondered why the parking lot wasn’t very full when we checked in. We got the answer to that question after living this experience.
