Bluebird Chalet is a spacious three-level Swiss-style ski chalet nestled in the beautiful Bryce Resort area on Bryce Mountain. This house is loaded with windows and sliding glass doors that showcase a private view of the surrounding trees and mountains. It's also within a short (450 ft) walk to the Red Eye ski slope. Ski or bike down to the lodge, then take the lift to ski or bike home!
Recently renovated inside and out, this generous 3,300+ sq/ft 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath house (with a full bathroom for each bedroom) has 5 outdoor deck/patio areas, an outdoor firepit, sauna, hot tub, and plenty of space for family gatherings and vacations with friends and kids. Three separate driveways easily accommodate up to six vehicles. Enter the main entry door from the middle driveway to avoid any steps when entering the house. Bluebird Chalet accommodates 10 luxuriously.

The Area
This Allegheny Mountain oasis is a short 1.5 to 2 hour drive from the Northern Virginia/Washington, DC area and approximately 45-minutes from Harrisonburg, VA.
When venturing out, Bluebird Chalet's central location makes for an easy drive to nearby amenities and activities: < 1 mile to the Bryce Resort lodge and 2.3 miles to Smiley's Ice Cream, Burn Barrel tavern, Pale Fire Brewing, RHouse Wine & Cafe, and the Community Store, 178 miles of hiking trails on National Forest land, mountain biking trails and courses, scenic golfing, and fishing, swimming, and boating in Lake Laura. This charming home offers year-round access to a wide variety of activities, making it the perfect destination no matter the season!

Entry Level
Enter Bluebird Chalet through the veranda below the brick patio. The home's recreation and leisure area welcomes you with a brick wood-burning fireplace, comfy furniture, large Smart TV, full-size pool table, full size air hockey table, and a sauna. A covered side deck beyond the pool table invites quiet conversations over chilled libations. A half bathroom in the entry foyer is convenient to the entrance and all activities. Also on this level: a bedroom suite with king bed, ensuite full bathroom, a sitting/reading room, and private access to the lower back deck. Close the suite's doors to create your own sanctuary. The lower deck on this level remains dry when raining and features a large hot tub, a swing, ceiling fan, rope lights, and lounge furniture. (The hot tub is professionally serviced between every guest reservation.) Even rainy days can be fun on this deck! Walk down to the fire pit area or access the upper deck from the lower deck via the side stairs. Firewood for the fireplace and fire pit is located under the side deck.
Main Level
Head upstairs to the main level to find a spacious living room with another brick fireplace (inoperable - please use lower-level fireplace only), towering A-frame ceilings, a wall of windows looking out over the mountain, ample comfortable furniture (including a queen sleeper sofa), and another large Smart TV. The large galley kitchen offers modern appliances, a wine fridge, cookware, utensils, dinnerware, and a basket-style coffee maker (filters provided, but please bring your favorite grind). You can access the front brick patio via the kitchen to enjoy morning coffee at the cafe-style table while watching the sun rise and listening to the birds sing! The dining area seats ten at a farm-style table, which is framed by two large sliding glass doors that access the large upper deck with serene views of the trees and ski slopes. This deck has two chaise loungers, two tables and chairs with seating for ten total (one with umbrella), and a gas grill. Easily access the lower deck and fire pit area from this main floor deck via the side stairs. The main floor also includes a hallway full bathroom, a laundry room off the bathroom, one bedroom with queen bed and ensuite full bathroom, and another bedroom with a queen bed situated next to the hallway bathroom.
Loft Suite
Walk up the stairs to a secluded loft-suite bedroom with a vaulted ceiling, king bed, full bathroom, and a remote-work area including desk and chair, a quiet reading/lounging area overlooking the main living room, and a private treetop-level deck with a bench for taking in a view of Great North Mountain as you sip a glass of wine to wind down as the sun sets.
The Smart TVs throughout allow guests to log into popular streaming apps, and 100+mbps WiFi Internet gives you the option to work remotely, stream TV and movies, and play games on multiple devices.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
✹ QUIET HOURS AND GENERAL RULES - Quiet hours are 10 pm to 7 am. Quiet hours after 10:00 pm are strongly enforced by the local security and police. No parties, fireworks, or weapons are allowed on the premises at any time. Smoking and vaping of any kind are prohibited on the premises. Illegal substances and activities are also prohibited.
✹ ROAD CONDITIONS - We are located on beautiful Bryce Mountain with narrow and windy roads. Like many other mountain homes, the road leading to this chalet is steep. We highly recommend 4-wheel drive after or during expected winter storm events. Please drive carefully!
✹ TOWELS, BEDDING, AND ESSENTIALS - We supply bedding (pillows, bedspreads, blankets), fresh bed linens, one towel set per max occupants, one travel-size bar soap per max occupants, two rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, two dishwasher tabs, five trash bags, one bath trash bag per bathroom, one paper towel roll, two kitchen dish towels, one travel-size dish soap, and one scrubby pad. We encourage guests with large groups, those who are staying several nights, or who are heavy users of consumable supplies to either bring extra supplies or purchase them at the local Basye Community Store.
✹ PET POLICY – Although we love furry friends, too, they are NOT allowed at Bluebird Chalet. We would like all guests - with and without pet allergies - to enjoy their stay with us.
✹ PARKING - Our three driveways accommodate tandem parking for at least 6 regular cars.
✹ GAS GRILL AND FIREWOOD - This chalet has a propane gas grill on the main deck, conveniently located near the kitchen and dining room. Firewood for the outdoor fire pit and indoor fireplace is stocked and stacked beneath the side deck in front of the third (lowest) driveway.
✹ POOL ACCESS - Guests have unlimited access to the Bryce Mountain Escapes pool at our reception office (2565 Orkney Grade). You will see pictures of the Bryce Mountain Escapes pool in the unit listing -- it's open 9am-5pm, Monday through Saturday between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Guests CANNOT access the Bryce Resort pool (Bryce Landing), which is for Bryce Resort member use only.
✹ OUTDOOR VIDEO SURVEILLANCE - There are two exterior cameras aimed away from guest activity areas in the back yard & decks. When activated, they are on 24/7, but only record video and audio when there are movements (motion-activated). There are no cameras or other surveillance devices inside the house.
MOUNTAIN & VALLEY FUN:
The Bryce Resort area offers many activities and events throughout the year, including snow skiing/boarding and snow tubing in the winter. In the spring, summer, and fall activities include golf, Lake Laura swimming, canoeing, paddle boarding, paddle boating, kayaking, and a thrill-filled lift-accessed mountain bike park.
