Guests enjoy comfortable winter and summer holidays in owner built local strawbale and earthen render cottages in a 5-acre native setting. The cottages are based on 'small footprint principles' using solar power for energy needs - water heating & pump, light, ceiling fans throughout, room heaters cooking etc and passive energy principles eg north facing aspect with rock/earth bank to the rear, thermal insulating building materials, roof & floor insulation, double glazing all windows, wood burning heaters in the larger cottages.
Come and enjoy the Lake, Rivers and Mountains at their tranquil best.
Frogsong cottages provide an eco-sustainable Landcare haven from which to explore Lake Eildon & Mount Buller scenery, national parks and activities. Winter sports abound: Cross country, downhill skiing and snowboarding at Mt Buller or Mt Stirling or bush walking. 4 wheel driving in Mansfield and Lake Eildon State forests and foothills. Fishing, horse riding & cycling are popular activities all year round, and Lake Eildon and many rivers creeks and waterholes offer opportunities for swimming , water fun and even searching for gold The bustling town of Mansfield is only 15 mins away, offering a range of interesting eateries, shopping and markets, and shuttle access to Mount Buller and Stirling, along with snow equipment hire and purchase.

Amazing
A beautiful place with welcoming, caring hosts. Truely amazing. Maggie greeted me on arrival, with supplies for great breakfast in the fridge and delicious home made bread. Sunday morning I was delighted with a freshly baked muffin. The cottage was spotless and very peaceful looking on to a beautifully kept parklike garden. I will come again.

It started with meeting the hosts. They were so helpful and showed us around the property and then to our accomodation which was ideal for us. They explained to us what sights were around and nothing was to much trouble for them. I would recommend the strawbale cottages to anyone.

Tranquil and well equipped
Frogsong Cottages are beautiful. We stayed in Yellow Cottage at the end of the row. Our lovely host left us a substantial breakfast tray of cereal, fruit, fresh bread, eggs, milk and butter. Her home baked muffins and biscuits were divine! The cottage itself had an enough crockery, cutlery plus those extras that a traveller appreciates- a tea pot and coffee plunger, extra blankets and knee rugs to keep chills away and plenty of towels. Our wee dog was welcomed warmly and he enjoyed a run up and down the slopes. There is limited network coverage on this part of the world so make sure you pack a good book or enjoy the board games included in the cottage. Altogether a very pleasant getaway!

Maggie and Dave were very welcoming and generous hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed for a great stay. We also really loved that during our stay there were no other guests making it a really private and tranquil stay. Maggie made some very delicious raspberry muffins for us too, which was a delightful treat.

all-round wonderful experience
This was my second time staying at Frogsong and once again I was blown away. The setting is absolutely stunning, and we loved listening to the birds and frogs as we watched the sun slide through the trees from our own private sunny deck. The cottage was clean, cosy and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay (the hot water bottles were particularly appreciated!). By far the biggest stand out, as it was last time, was Maggie and Dave's hospitality. Maggie could NOT have been more welcoming, warm and accommodating if she tried. The communication leading up to our stay was excellent, and Maggie went to great lengths to ensure we found the place ok and arrived safely. The heater was on in our room, with a loaf of freshly baked bread and homemade cookies waiting for us, and on Sunday morning Maggie delivered homemade muffins (still warm from the oven) to our door. We had wonderful chats with both Dave and Maggie as they worked around the property and they made both us and our dogs feel so welcome. True hosts in every sense of the word. We very much hope to be back soon.

As Darrel would have said 'Hows the serenity!'. We got the pleasure of frog and bird songs in our cozy cabin. Our hosts Maggie and Dave were very nice and cooked us fresh bread and muffins as well as providing us with some fantastic fruit. The room was clean and extra towels were provided to accommodate our needs. Overall the place was exactly what we needed. Would stay again!

Amazing as always! We have loved our visits to this beautiful accommodation! Such incredible hosts and can't express how lovely and perfect the cottage and scenery is. We were lucky enough too meet the neighbouring horses that my daughter was smitten with. We also saw a fox taking a morning stroll and kangaroos sunbathing in the distance all from the comfort of our back porch! Will definitely return!

Right from the start, Maggie was really good in communicating with me, very hospitable. There was freshly baked bread and a good selection of breakfast options set aside for us. She had the heating on so we had a warm cottage on our arrival. The cottage was clean, neat and tidy with an extra supply of towels and beddings. With no network coverage, Maggie was very gracious in letting me use her land-line to call out. There is a selection of DVDs that are available to watch. She even brought us freshly baked, hot white chocolate and raspberry muffins the following morning. We accidently broke a plate and happily covered the cost, they were very understanding about it. Liked the fact they are very environmentally conscious - there were different bins for waste ie compost, recyclables, soft plastics etc. Overall we have a wonderful stay. We were told there was no rush to leave at the check-out time of 11am and we could take our time without any additional cost. We will definitely keep this place on our list of places to stay.
