Historic Algiers Point - Quiet Residential Neighborhood, Ferry to French Quarter

Spacious, recently renovated apartment (1118 sq. ft.) in historic, charming Algiers Point, directly across the river from the French Quarter. Take a quick ferry ride to the French Quarter during the day and return home at night to New Orleans' second-oldest neighborhood (est. 1719, one year after settlement of the French Quarter), and enjoy the charm (and quiet!) after your revelries.

LAYOUT: This apartment has a classic New Orleans shotgun floor plan, in which one room follows another. Please view floor plan in the pics.

Living room (twin bay bed and couch that converts to lie flat as a double bed), the White Bedroom (2 queen beds, standing desk, 32” TV), Master Bedroom (king bed), hallway/bathroom 1, kitchen, Rear Bedroom (queen bed), bathroom 2. All beds have 12" memory foam mattresses, all very comfortable with fresh sheets and pillows.

Full kitchen with all necessities for cooking and serving full meals, including pots and pans, mixing bowls, colander, blender, microwave, gas range and oven, drip coffee maker, dishwasher, toaster, etc.

50+ Mbps Wifi with powerful wireless router/signal with a range extender. Signal easily reaches throughout the entire unit.

52” Smart TVs in living room and master bedroom connect to Internet for viewing free services such as YouTube or services such as Netflix (you must use you own account). The bedrooms each have 32” TVs with digital antennas (local channels).

Central air and heat. Minimum setting of 72F during warmer months, thank you for understanding.

There is a private patio outside the rear bedroom for guest use only, and a brick patio as pictured that is shared with other tenant. Handyman also uses the shed for storage and occasional work, but tries to minimize use when guests are present.

Easy street parking for those with cars.

The apartment faces a beautiful park and historic church (see photo), and is a block from the local coffee shop and three houses down from a corner grocery, the Faubourg Market. For more substantial grocery shopping there is a Rouses supermarket on Royal Street in the French Quarter (walking distance from the Ferry).

The Algiers Point Ferry is an approximately 6 block walk, and the ferry drops you at the base of Canal Street, adjacent to the French Quarter as well as the Central Business District. (See Photo 3.) The ferry stop is also adjacent to the Riverwalk Mall, a large outlet mall along the river, and is a block from Harrah's Casino. The Central Business District is home to many of New Orleans' most celebrated restaurants, including Domenica, August, Luke, Palace Cafe, Acme Oyster House, Redfish Grill, Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse, Bon Ton Cafe, and many more.

Your host lives nearby and is always available for assistance. Let me know if you have any questions about the rental.

An oasis that's a ferry ride away from the party
Gorgeous place, super walkable neighborhood, friendly neighbors and such a peaceful place to be after the party across the river.

Loved this house!
This is a quintessential New Orleans shotgun house that is terrific. Our family of 6 adults stayed here and enjoyed it. While we were there, we got to see a Second Line (a parade for all of us non-New Orleans people) after a wedding and it was so fun to participate! This place is absolutely charming.

Great house, very clean. Beds were comfortable. Perfect for our group of 6 adults. It is an older home, so A/C isn’t great. Window unit in back bedroom works great.

Spring Break Trip
The house was located in the historical section of Algiers across the river (short ferry ride) of New Orleans. This was the perfect location for a family. The house was clean and very spacious. It has charm and character, makes you feel right at home. Josh was a great host and made sure we had everything that we needed for our stay. The local pizza restaurant he recommended down the street was awesome as well. Will definitely be back!!

Exceptionally Clean Home in Algiers
The rental was sparkling clean and true to pictures. The beds were very comfortable and the house was well equipped. We appreciated the coffee and basket that welcomed us and the backyard space is beautiful. There were a few hiccups during our stay that we addressed with the owner and he was very quick to respond. The outlets in the back bathroom did not work, but he was going to remedy that immediately. Mostly though, the house was lovely and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed all the different art pieces on the walls. The home also was comfortable, quiet, and in a great location; the neighborhood was pretty and historic. We felt safe and enjoyed taking the easy walk to the ferry for a quick ride to the French Quarter. My only caveat is the area is a bit of a grocery store desert, so pick up supplies beforehand, if you can. There is a little store down the street and another a few blocks away, but selection is limited - we picked up items before coming over on the ferry, especially since it was late day Sunday and those 2 stores were closed. There is a wonderful glass blowing shop and a couple of restaurants nearby. Josh was very easy to work with and I would recommend staying in this rental, especially if you want to experience a different kind of New Orleans adventure.

Charming & comfortable!
This is a wonderful property in quiet Algiers Point! For the third year in a row, this has been our home away from home for a girl’s weekend. Josh has done a fantastic job with this lovely property. Filled with local art, very clean and comfortable and has every convenience one needs. The welcome basket is a great touch! The newly renovated back garden is the perfect place for morning coffee or evening drinks. The area is quiet and friendly with great local restaurants and pub. We also love the daily ferry trips to get into the French Quarter. This property and location is highly recommended! See you next year!

Staying in Algiers Point is quite a unique experience.....in a good way. Very disappointing that the ferry was not working, but we just drove to the city so it worked out fine. Certainly not the property owners fault. What a charming area! Thanks for the gift basket, Josh! It was very thoughtful!

Cozy space in a quiet area
Josh's place was comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and there are several good breakfast options within walking distance. For nightlife, you'd probably want to go across the water. The ferry is easy and quick but you've got to plan around the 30 minute departure times. The neighborhood just a few blocks away seems a bit sketchy but the street that this place is on has very little traffic or activity.

Great stay!
We had a great stay in this lovely, well appointed house. Nice, quiet neighborhood with friendly people, restaurants, small grocery store and even a pub. A short ferry ride and $2 puts you right in the French Quarter. Perfect.

Great Neighborhood and House
We didn't spend a lot of time at the house because there was so much to do - so close to the rental! The neighborhood has great dining and entertainment. The pizzeria has one of the best thin crust pizzas I've had. The Old Point Bar doesn't have a kitchen but had some great music and very reasonable drink prices. The ferry was super easy and opened up ALL of the French Quarter. I would certainly go back.

Happy Place!
We had the best time and our very first time to visit New Orleans and not stay in the French Quarter. There were five of us and we really wanted to be able to hang-out and visit for breakfast and in the evenings after a long day but not in bar but a cozy atsmosphere. We had plenty of room in this cozy home and loved the local cafes all in walking distance of this home. It is a very safe place and we used the Ferry (walking distance) to go to the French Quarter daily. The owner is super friendly and very helpful! We will stay here again! We could not beat the price for housing 6 people! An added extra, the art in the house was all local art, local places and local artist.

Perfect
We thoroughly enjoyed our few days in this wonderful house. The setting in Algiers Point was ideal, quiet but so convenient for the short ferry crossing to the French Quarter. The house was clean, comfortable and spacious and provided all we needed. I believe the host, Josh, lives next door and although we never met him he responded quickly to messages and was obviously keen to help in any way he could. All in all a perfect experience and we will return! Thank you Josh.
