Clean, comfortable, and 1/2 a block away from Central Park in a great neighborhood. No elevator, no problem. Small sacrifice for an actual hot steaming shower.

Overall, a great stay, although the immediatesurrounding area is a little sketchy and one has to stay on their toes. Other than that high marks and a decent amount of amenities as well.

Lots of amenities and group activities available enhances overall experience of meeting people. Friendly, courteous , and knowledgeable staff. Be careful of local riff raff in immediate vicinity after dark though. Honor system of hosteling respected by most; though food in kitchen tends to ‘disappear’ even if it has your name on it. The staff that cleans the communal areas, keep it very clean. Beds are clean, comfortable, and have a privacy curtain. Overall HI NYC heightened my travel experience and made it more enjoyable.

Good Surprise

I didn’t know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. Very clean and professional. The place was marvelous and totally recommend it. I would stay there again.
