This hotel is both modern and turn of the century decor. Recently renovated to include all modern luxuries while maintaining a taste for the past. No squeaky doors, or loud toilet flushes to stir you from the velvety interiors that seem to hug you as you enter the room. Located in safe area near a subway stop. We loved the room almost as much as the bar. The Naked Lunch cocktail is amazing with its oak Moss tincture. It’s a must. We shall return…

This is the most beautiful hotel with a history that you can feel in the ambience as well as the decor. Situated in a good location, quite central to everything you'll probably want to see. This hotel was our sanctuary in the hustle and bustle of this extremely busy city. Staff were professional, and mostly friendly. An excellent stay.

We selected this hotel because it seemed like it had more character than the W-ish design of most hotel options. It ended up being a great selection. The room was actually spacious and gorgeously appointed. It was so easy to get around, and there was always plenty of staff around to help out. I would definitely stay here on return visits.

Absolute wonderful. The hotel is beautifully renovated, and the room was fantastic. The only thing I would improve is to have a few more lamps, rather than having to use the main light in the room which took away from the ambience.

Hotel Chelsea is a whole vibe. Rooms are comfortable, well equipped, and charming. No attention spared. Housekeeping is like magic- turn down service 10/10. Service overall is impeccable. I was in NYC on a solo trip and v much appreciated how quiet the room was. I will absolutely be back. If you don’t know about the illustrious history at Hotel Chelsea, google it right up!

I am well versed in the history of this hotel having lived in NYC during the 70's and 80's and knew about it's start as a social experiment in urban planning that would enable people of varying economic situations to live together as a community. I was dismayed when I heard about the renovation and the intent to turn this into more of a luxury property. We cannot go back in time but I aim impressed with the way the hotel has retained its character and quirky charm while meeting this century's standards for upscale boutique hotels. It's perfect.

Amazing experience! The hotel is unique and the staff is incredible. We also had a few great experiences at the Lobby Bar. The woman manager (I don't remember her name) at the bar was fantastic and very accommodating. All around 10/10.

Apart from the one girl at the front desk who was very helpful, the rest of the staff were dismissive which was off-putting. Firstly, they put me in a room that faced a brick wall and I had specifically asked for a view. I complained as soon as I was in the room, but they called me back after 1:00 PM the next day (over 12 hours later). The reservations person was rude and wanting to get me off the phone as soon as she could - mono syllabic answers and you could almost hear her tapping her feet because she was so bored talking to me. I was moved to a room on the first floor but I eventually had enough and moved to the Virgin Hotel which was a 10 out of 10. Large rooms, clean and the staff were incredibly helpful and cheerful. The best part about Hotel Chelsea were the two doormen - Brighton and Tom. They were excellent and were kind and always had smiles on their faces. They recommended dining choices and things to go see if I had time. I had back pain and they recommended a good masseuse which was not far from the hotel and inexpensive. The Hotel was over-priced and a waste of money. The brass in the room and bathrooms was filthy and looked like they had not been polished for a century. There was grime on every brass piece in the room. I guess they can't be bothered to run a clean hotel. The 2 rooms I stayed in were similar dingy spaces and way too dark. I won't ever stay there again yet I'll be back in NYC in a month.
