Couldn't beat the location/price on a Saturday night near MSG. If you're in town on a budget and need a place to crash after a show, it's great. Clean room, friendly staff, but room is in solid need of updating. Would stay again if I'm in midtown for a night or two.

I checked in and the staff walked me to my room to spray air freshener because they put me in a smoking floor (despite my reservation being for a non-smoking room. I was told there were no other rooms. I then walked into the bathroom and noticed it had not been cleaned, garbage remained in the bin, floors were sticky. I walked out of the hotel immediately, they refused a refund. Stay away from this place!

Honestly a good place to stay in NYC for the cheap price. Rooms were not the cleanest but staff was kind and hotel itself was quiet. The construction outside starting at 7 or 8 AM was not ideal, so don’t plan on sleeping in if you stay here any time soon. Also no coffee and basically no breakfast options either. But it’s NYC, they have options everywhere anyways. Id choose this place over a 1k, 2k, 3k per night hotel every time.

More uncomfortable than comfortable
I had a last-minute work trip and my company has new limits for what we can spend per month on travel, so I chose the Hudson River Hotel based on the photos on the website and affordable price. My Uber driver couldn't even find the hotel (there was scaffolding outside of the building and the sign was hidden), the lobby was small, messy, and cluttered, and the elevator was broken so I had to take a sketchy stairwell filled with laundry bags. The man who checked me in was friendly and helpful - which was the only redeeming part of my stay. The walls in the room were dirty and had scuff marks all over them, the bathtub had stains in it, the wallpaper was coming off, the carpet was worn and coming up in spots, and when I went to plug in my phone to charge it the electrical outlet was loose and felt dangerous. After a long day of travel and being out and about in NYC, I looked forward to a shower - but somehow felt more icky afterward. The room was not at all soundproof and there was a lot of noise in the hallway. I slept with the light and the TV on to distract myself. Overall, I felt more uncomfortable than

The advertisement photos were totally misleading. I thought I was checking into a modern boutique hotel. The actual property (rooms, lobby) look absolutely nothing like the advertisement photos. Very run-down property. Everything looked dingy. Poor lighting in rooms. Only one lamp worked. Outlets didn’t work. Key cards never worked. We had to get our keys fixed everyday. Sloppy patched walls everywhere in the rooms. The rooms and hallways are in desperate need of deep cleaning and painting. Low-quality towels. Cracked sink in bathroom. The bathroom sink faucet sprayed water — needed a new washer. We asked for the hotel to store our luggage for the day of checkout. We were charged $10 per bag. This is much higher than any other NYC hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Positives: The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the sheets were clean and of decent quality. The a/c unit worked fine. The water was hot in the shower, and hygiene amenities were available in the room. There was a light breakfast available— coffee, juice, toast, fresh fruit. The front desk personnel was pleasant.

Very good for the price! The staff are terrific, and while the room was tiny and could do with some updating, it was clean, comfortable, and as quiet as New York gets during the evening hours. I would stay again.

You Get What You Pay For...
Room was clean, but in a terrible state of disrepair (curtain rods askew, towel racks hanging off the wall, toilet paper dispenser loose, cracks on walls and around windows, etc). We were delayed checking in because the worker at the front desk "went out" for a lengthy period of time. The walls are very thin and noise from the other rooms was an issue...the alarm of guest in the next room went off in the middle of the night and he did not turn it off...my wife had to call the desk to get him to turn it off.
