Would have been a perfect place. Staff lovely, lovely rooms, great location, easy to park, amazing price. But the food was poor. Got a perfectly cooked grilled chicken, chips, mushrooms, and tomato, however there was enough salt on the plate to kill the entire UK slug population. Considering there is a salt shaker on every table, why shlack someones dinner with it? By time my food came out they had stopped the kitchen so couldnt be bothered asking for it to be replaced, like why does my tomato have salt all over it? Cant decide if this is normal, or the kitchen did it as i ordered 10 mins before the kitchen closed. then at breakfast the sausages were cooked on the outside, but cut into them and they were pinker than nellie the elephant. On the upside I had so much salt in my system I managed the 5 hour drive home without having to stop for a pee. Every cloud and that. Would recommend the hotel otherwise. As was a amazing room and location on the river. Slept well and staff were great.

I think little touches like water in your room or even toiletries in the bathroom would be good, room a little shabby

Some issues
The room we booked was an executive suite but there was dust and bits near the window that hadn’t been hoovered or dusted Janet the breakfast Manager I found her to be quite rude and not helpful unlike the receptionist who was lovely and most helpful

When this hotel was built it was a symbol of the regeneration of the Northeast. Obviously things age and the world changes. But this hotel is now a sad relic of the optimism of the early 90s. It is drab. Deserted. Reminiscent of a prison in its general feel. It is admittedly cheap so I guess when you stay there you sort of forgive all of this. But what is unforgivable is how uncomfortable the cheap beds are. I just want a good nights sleep. Stay at the premier inn.

Sun beat in through the window and no A/C. Only option for cooling was to crack the window, but we had to keep the heavy drapes closed to keep the sun from heating the room, limiting air circulation from the window.
