That was our 5th stay over the past 15 years, and we still like this hotel. The room with the view and the balcony are great. The people are nice. It is a little old, the building may need a refresh, but overall we enjoyed it. The breakfast was good. We love being able to walk on the beach from the hotel.

Bugs, they clean every other day and they didn’t clean our room within 4 days. We called to check out, no answer nor voicemail, no attendant there, they pulled in as we were trying to go back in the check out

Oldie trying hard to be a goodie
It is an older property but you can tell they are working hard to give it a new facelift. Unique layout with the bathroom in a separate bedroom. Best breakfast on our trip. Staff is very attentive and makes sure tables are clean.

Water is right next to some huge drainage pipe. They let some people in a van just camp out in it outside my room. didn't do anything about it when I brought it to their attention. Window to the bay let in a ton of light. Pool was locked up. Breakfast was meh. They kept texting me. Seem to care if you like it. Maybe I'm being a bit picky. Not much in terms of restaurants near by.

Not even with the bargain prices.
I requested a handicapped room. They had booked a regular room with a tub and no safety handrails. After a conversation they finally gave me the handicapped room. I guess they only had 2 rooms. My room smelled of dog. After complaining they supposedly tried to get rid of the dog odor. It lasted 1 night. If I didn’t need the handicapped room I would have asked for another. I bought a can of Lysol spray and sprayed every time I was in the room. Should at least keep one room that is not pet friendly. Also, we were there for a week and they changed towels twice and made the bed only once. Very poor housekeeping service. The hotel is very old and the appearance shows it. It even smells old. I will not be staying here again and won’t recommend it to my friends.

I great find on the beach in Norfolk👍😃
The Best Western Plus Holiday Sands was amazing. We were extremely lucky in that we were given a 2 bedroom unit right on the ocean. I was traveling with my teenage grandson (who wanted to visit the Wisconsin); our 2 rescue dogs & my 75 yo husband (whose health isn’t great). The room we stayed in had 2 new queen beds plus a small kitchen ( appliances only -luckily we were traveling in our RV so I had the plates & silverware). The room had been totally renovated-beautifully done. They gave you body wash, shampoo & rinse in the shower-not just the little samples! There was even an enclosed dog walk on the ocean that had sprinklers -watering every morning the grass there!! I was unable to get to the free breakfast as I had my hands full taking care of my ‘clan’, but I am sure it was wonderful. They didn’t change the towels everyday- which didn’t need to be done as we stayed there only 2 days. The weather while we were there was extremely windy from the latest storm up from the Gulf, otherwise I would have walked more on the beach. There were recycled doggie bags and a place to put them in the dog walk-which was great. Unfortunately the pool was closed, but it looked great, plus there were plenty of lounge chairs available had the wind not been so intense. The TV had many channels available plus there was good internet. The check in was easy as was the ck out. There was a laundry room with 2 washers & 2 dryers- pay with cc. Plenty of stores & restaurants close by.
