About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Lewis Creek Hideaway- Hot Tub/EV/Pool Table/Historic!

Historic cabin nestled in the incredibly peaceful mountain community of Sugar Pine. Originally built in the 1890's, this cabin served as the Sugar Pine Lumber Company's office for several decades, and still holds all of its charm. Travel to the mountains and get an authentic cabin experience.

Some great features of this historical gem include:

New studio added! In June 2023, we added the studio above the garage to the listing, making the property a 4 bedroom/3 bathroom. The upstairs studio does not have air conditioning, but it is generally not needed as this property sits over 5,000 feet in elevation and stays relatively cool year round!

- 30x30 ft. great room perfect to entertain everyone
- New Level 2 EV Charger added September 2024!
- Hot Tub
- Custom made propane outdoor firepit
- Walking distance to Lewis Creek Trail (one of the most popular in the area)
- 8 miles from the south entrance to Yosemite!

The cabin got a new central AC added in late July 2022! The first time in 130 years of the cabin's existence! :)

The cabin has 3 flat parking spaces (rare in Sugar Pine), in case people drive separately. Many of the local roads are privately owned and privately maintained. We appreciate you not exceeding the maximum parking limit. There is no RV parking at this property. Please do not bring an RV, even if it's temporary.

Bedding/Bathroom Configuration is as follows:
Main House
Master Bedroom - One Cal King Bed w/en suite Bathroom #1 and one rollaway Single Bed in closet
Bedroom #2 - One Queen Bed and one rollaway Single Bed in closet
Bedroom #3 - Two Twin Beds (not rollaways)
Bathroom #2 is near the living room
This home is all one level home.
Bonus Studio Above Garage with en suite Bathroom #3
One Queen Bed and One Full Pullout Sofa

Since the cabin was built in the 1890's, please note that it has an incredible amount of old mountain charm, and is not a brand new home. If you are looking for a modern experience, this cabin may not be for you, and that is totally ok!

Rental Agreement- Immediately after booking, the rental agreement displayed at checkout will be sent to you via text and email for E-signing. Kindly E-sign this within 48 hours to finalize your reservation. You will also need to upload a photo of the ID associated with the credit card on file. This is solely for fraud protection purposes. E-signing allows you to go straight to the property upon your arrival, instead of coming to our office to sign and get a key!

Welcome Guide- One week prior to arrival, a digital welcome book will be sent via email and text message. It will have your special door code, address, items provided, and much more great info to help you prepare for your trip!

Access to Yosemite and Nearby Attractions- Yosemite National Park, like many others across the United States, has implemented a reservation system in recent years to manage visitor numbers effectively. We highly recommend that visitors planning a trip to Yosemite stay informed by regularly checking the National Parks websites and affiliated sources for any updates regarding the reservation system. While we strive to provide our guests with an exceptional experience, it's important to note that access to Yosemite or nearby attractions cannot be guaranteed, especially during peak seasons. By staying informed and flexible, visitors can better navigate their travel plans and make the most out of their trip to this beautiful region.

Kitchen- The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, cookware, cups, silverware, and more! Our housekeeping team leaves out salt, pepper, and a can of cooking spray. Friends, family, and other guests sometimes leave spices, aluminum foil or ziploc bags at the home. You are most welcome to use any of these items, but if something is particularly crucial to the success of your meals, we do recommend bringing it along with you.

Linens- Our vacation homes are some of the few in the Yosemite area to use professionally laundered linens. All linens are professionally serviced for each and every reservation. The linens are washed in commercial grade washers with stronger hypoallergenic detergent than you would find in a residential washer. All linens are then pressed with an iron at 300° F, vs. a standard home dryer that only reaches 160°. You are not likely to find this level of service in other vacation homes.

Fireplace/Firepits- Kindly note that any type of wood burning is typically unavailable in the summer and fall months, due to heightened fire risk in the area. Propane firepits and BBQ grills are usable year round. Since the property has an adequate heating system, firewood is not provided. You are most welcome to bring any for your own ambiance if you wish, or you may use any that might be at the property left by friends, family, or other guests.

Hot Tub- There is no lifeguard on duty for the hot tub. Please use at your own risk. We kindly ask that you shower prior to entering the hot tub.

Dog Friendly!- This property IS dog friendly for a maximum of 2 dogs. Please ensure you have added your dog to your reservation prior to completing your booking. If you decide later on you would like to add your dog, please reach out to us so that we can get your dog added to the reservation. While we prefer your dog never be left unattended at the property, we do require the dog to be left in a crate if you do need to leave the pup for a short period of time. This is to prevent any unnecessary barking, chewing, or any other damages dogs are known to cause in new environments.

Parking- There is enough parking for 3 cars at this property. The garage is unavailable to guests, as it is used for owner storage. We appreciate you not exceeding the maximum parking limit. Many of the local roads are privately owned and privately maintained. Please be mindful to obey speed laws and drive slowly in residential neighborhoods!

Early or Late Check-ins- Early check ins are often difficult for our team to accommodate. If you would like to check in early, please reach out to us after 2PM on the day of your arrival so we can check with our team. If you need guaranteed early check in, we recommend booking the night before your arrival so that you may check in as early as you wish. For checkout, most vacation homes have a 10AM check out in our area. We provide an 11AM checkout, and unfortunately can rarely offer a later checkout.

Occupancy- Maximum occupancy of 12 guests regardless of age. Infants are included in the total. This is strictly enforced. No having events/weddings/large dinner gatherings/guests over just to visit.

Security Cameras- There is one external camera on the premises that faces the parking area.

Chains- California Highway Patrol and the National Park Service may require chains in wintery/snowy/icy conditions. Please ensure you are bringing a vehicle and necessary equipment capable of navigating in these conditions.

No Smoking- The Smoke Remediation Fee will be a minimum of $500 for smoking in the house and could be higher depending on the extent of the damage.

Insurance- Travel Insurance is provided as an option during the checkout process. Please note that as hosts, we cannot protect your trip from flight delays, illnesses, weather, job loss, or other circumstances that may prevent you from making your trip. We truly wish we could! We STRONGLY suggest purchasing some type of Travel Insurance so that you may protect your vacation investment from unforeseen circumstances that may prevent you from making your trip. It's a nominal cost that can absolutely pay off!

Mail- Due to locked neighborhood mailboxes, we ask you not mail anything to the property. You are most welcome to mail items to our office (Love Yosemite! Vacation Rentals) in Oakhurst. Please reach out to us to make arrangements.

Calling Us- The phone number on our account does not receive text messages, because it is the number for our office. Please call that number or send us a message if you need any help or have any questions!

Please note this property is nestled in the breathtaking Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, offering a serene escape into nature. However, being in such a pristine environment means that you may occasionally encounter some of nature's residents, such as ants, spiders, insects, mice, and cobwebs. We take every precaution, including regularly scheduled professional pest control to minimize these occurrences, but they are a natural part of the mountain experience and may get past our defenses from time to time. If you do notice any of this during your stay, please let us know so we can promptly address them and ensure your comfort.

Neighbors- Please do not trespass on the neighboring properties. We appreciate you respecting the local neighborhood!

3. If you have time to start the dishwasher, that would be helpful but not necessary.

Family Birthday Trip
The house was amazing and very comfortable. We went to celebrate my husbands birthday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The proximity to yosemite was very close amd the neighborhood was beautiful. The best thing was the Toy vaultnwhich my boys were ecstatic about. They were obsessed. Thank you for making this trip unforgettable.

Everything was excellent. All facilities were in excellent working condition, the kitchen was so well stocked it included a popcorn popper. The hosts were excellent leading up to our trip with communication. Check-out was very easy. We'll be back!

Exactly what we were looking for
For our adult hiking group, this was an ideal lodging spot. You can stay closer to Yosemite, but being one hour from the airport and closer to Oakhurst really helped keep a few trips shorter. The firepit and hot tub is a great social space on the property, and the responsiveness of the property manager before and during the stay to answer questions was seamless. Would definitely stay here again with friends.

Spacious and usable home for family vacation
Our family of 7 adults celebrating finishing 20 years of home school had a fantastic stay at LC Hideaway. The space was perfect for us—we used all the rooms and the apartment above the garage. That space is warm during the day and early evening, but we had a heat wave with some reps above 100. We kept windows open and in the middle of the night needed a light layer over the bedsheet to not get too cold. Morning temps were great there! We didn’t use the back space as much as anticipated due to spending so much time in Yosemite. The hot tub took longer to warm up than we realized, so set the temp you want that morning to use it in the evening. The back patio space is not as large as it appears in photos, FYI, but there is plenty if room for large groups to hang out there. The drive in to Yosemite was not as convenient as maybe some homes are, but for the space and the price, it worked perfectly for us! Also, most importantly, we had great communication with management prior to and during our stay. We actually shipped out boxes to the office containing snacks and items for our stay, and they were super helpful with that.

Family Getaway
Our whole immediate family was able to getaway for the weekend and spend time together cooking, talking, playing games and enjoying each other in Sugar Pine, in the snow. The cabin was able to accommodate all 10 of us with plenty of room to spare. Our grandchildren especially enjoyed the Toy Vault and the adults totally enjoyed the large rooms and pool table.

Beautiful
The space provided was not only clean and as listed but went above and beyond with accommodations to a larger group. We could've honestly gone with nothing and still had so much given to us for our stay. Wouldn't be surprised if we returned for another stay.

The house had everything we needed for our short stay. The kids did western plays for us with toys from the vault. We had an accident our first night and the host were more than gracious to help us. I cannot say enough good things about this property. We have been traveling across the states for the last 4 weeks and the is is the kids favorite house! It really feels Like a horn.

Beautiful getaway
We really enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable and spacious cabin. The location is quiet, surrounded by trees and across from a lovely pond. All of the rooms were spacious and quite comfortable. It was a fairly short drive to the Yosemite south entrance from here as well. We would definitely stay here again!

Awesome for families
This place was so fantastic! We will stay again. They give you wonderful tips for places to go and places to eat. Only 20 to 30 minutes to Mariposa Grove, 15 minutes to Sugar Pine Railroad. Approximately 1 hrs to Yosemite Tunnel view. Really not a bad trip and we had toddlers with us. The kitchen even has an instant pot. Not to far from Vons. I recommend El Cid food was fantastic. Bass Lake is also not far of a drive.

Charming house
We stayed here during the Washburn fire in July 2022. The house is absolutely charming!! The history of the property and original elements in the house added to the experience. The vault is so cool! The area is great for Yosemite, although we could not use that entrance due to the fire. The neighborhood is quiet and more remote but close enough to Oakhurst to make running into town easy. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything needed to cook meals and all the cabinets and drawers are labeled so you can easily find what you need. If you’re worried abt the lack of A/C like we were…. Don’t be! We followed the guidelines in the book and the house was actually quite cool at night. We did bring small fans for each bedroom and I would recommend that if the lack of a/c is foreign to you. We would love to visit again some day!
