Beautiful Victorian Home- In the heart of Alameda. Minutes from San Francisco

Don't be fooled by other listings that show a beautiful Victorian home but you are renting the basement apartment.... this rental is for the house.

This lovely home was built in 1885 and offers Victorian spendor along with all the amenities for an enjoyable stay.

Alameda offers easy access to San Francisco and many other Bay Area locations including UC Berkeley (Go Bears). Oakland Airport is less than 5 miles away. Getting to San Francisco is quick and comfortable - use the ferry (from the Main St terminal), bus, the express bus to downtown SF or to BART is only 3 blocks away. You can also drive- getting to the I-880 freeway and the Bay Bridge is quick - driving to downtown SF takes 25-30 minutes outside of rush hour. But the ferry is a much nicer way to go and you don’t have to park in SF (free parking at the ferry terminal in Alameda)

The main floor:
This stunning house features 12 foot ceilings in the formal rooms and the master bedroom. The front parlor features formal seating while the back parlor offers casual seating to visit or watch TV. The TV has a DVD/Blueray player with a collection of action and family DVDs. Local TV stations and access to Netflix amd other streaming options. Wi-Fi is also available throughout the house.

The dining room seats 6. The china cabinet is stocked with formal china amd the sodeboard has noce flatware should you wish to have a formal dinner – but since you are on vacation you might prefer to visit one of the many great restaurants that Alameda has to offer. Many within easy walking distance of the house.

The more modern kitchen has a fridge/freezer with ice maker, dishwasher, sink with garbage disposal, gas stove with a large oven, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and all the utensils a well-appointed kitchen should have.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and a large armoire as well as a dresser; the attached bathroom (also accessible from the second bedroom) has an extra-long tub/shower with 2 shower heads (each separately controlled).

The 2nd bedroom has a Queen sized bed and lots of closet space as well as a dresser. This bedroom has direct access to the main floor full bath as well as to the 1/2 bathmi

To sum up the bedroom/bathrooms on the main floor there are 2 bedroom and one full bath that both bedrooms have doors into. There is also a 1/2 bath off the queen bedroom so you can lock the queen room door access to the full bath if you dont want to run into each other in the middle of thr night ;) There is also a door to the hall (yes there are 3 door into one bathroom! Remeber this house was built in 1885 so just having a bathroom inside was super cool! There is also another full bath in the attic.

The Attic:
The 3rd bedroom and a bathroom are on the top floor (former attic area)

The 3rd bedroom sits at the top of the stairs and features 2 twin beds. This room is loft style so there is no door at the top or bottom of the stairs. it is set apart from the other rooms enough for privacy but if you have small ones and need a closed space the 2 downstairs bedrooms have doors that can be closed.

The full attic bathroom features a beautiful walk-in shower with a calcite wall and floors.

Like most homes in Alamed the house does not have central air conditioning - Alameda has great weather but on the RARE summer day when Alameda is hot the attic room is warmer than the downstairs rooms- a free-standing AC Unit is available should the bay breezes not be enough to cool the room down. There are also fans to assist the lovely bay breezes in the the home and I'm more than happy to come by and show you how to take advantage of Alameda nice evning breezes. Even in the summer in Alameda you will need sweater most evenings!

The basement:
The basement offers guests the use of the laundry room. The laundry room has a front load washer and dryer on pedestals and an area to sort and fold laundry. The rest if the basement is not available to tenants. As the owners office is there.

The yard:
The park-like large backyard offers a comfortable seating area and a gas bbq. Yard work will be done by the owners mid-day – we will do our best not to disturb our guests any more than necessary and will be happy to work around your schedule as much as possible and try to do most between guest

Security Cameras:
There are outside security cameras at the front and rear entrance to the house and yard. (the house is empty between guest so cameras are to keep an eye on the house.

The garage/parking:
The garage is not available for guest use. The driveway is - and has off-street parking for 1 vehicle. Additional street parking is usually easily available.

This is a historic home built in 1885 and is for use as a temporary place to stay while visiting or working in the area. Only the bedrooms are to be used as bedrooms. No airbeds may be added to other rooms and the couches are not to be used for additional guest – this is a family home not a bunkhouse or party pad. An airbed is available to add to the back bedroom should 2 people want to share the room but not share the one Queen sized bed. The limit for guests is 6 people the base rate is for up to 4 and 2 addition can be added. all guest need to be booked to stay in the house.

The rental is for vacation/short term rental only. No length of stay establishes residency- this is for temporary stay NOT a primary residence. By agreeing to rent the house you agree to all the terms listed in the description of the property as well as the house rules. Violation of the agreement terminates the rental agreement.

Great location, excellent host

We had a great time staying in a classic, historic Victorian. It's a wonderful space for three friends with private and communal space to spare. It was super clean and in a quiet neighborhood centrally located in Alameda. Maria was an amazing host, very quick to respond to any questions and to volunteer suggestions. The weather was perfect for relaxing outside in the yard. We would all happily stay here again.

Perfect doesn't even begin to describe this home!

This was the most gorgeous and comfortable home we've ever stayed in while on vacation. It was a quiet, uneventful and relaxing stay! Everything you could possibly need, including toiletries was provided. The beds were very comfortable, there are tons of movies to choose from if you just want to kick back and watch TV or you could have a wonderful lunch at the patio table in the sunshine filled storybook garden area. Our stay was perfect, thank you so very much for your hospitality Maria!

Too hot to the point of health hazard during high temps

Arrived during hot weather. Big problem. Sickeningly, dangerously hot inside the house, day and night, for days, until outside weather cooled down on our third day. No AC except a little one in the attic bedroom. I texted the owner to ask if she could bring ac units or fans. She couldn't. She offered let us move out, but it was late and too hard for us to find a new place and relocate. I think the listing didn't give fair warning that the house is untenable and dangerously hot during warm weather. I honestly think an infant or an elderly person or a person with medical conditions might have died in such heat if they were unable to move out immediately. That is my only complaint but it is a big one. And I think prospective renters need to be warned more clearly.

Wonderful stay in Alameda

This140-year-old house is even more lovely than in its pictures -- the same true of beautiful yard/garden - shaded by an avocado tree full of hummingbirds & beautifully bordered. Maria is a very wonderful, helpful host; the house is as comfortable & well-equipped as it is lovely to stay in. The family had the nicest possible gathering here.

Beautiful Victorian House in the heart of Alameda

We rented this spacious house for relatives who were coming from Europe to visit Alameda. Communication with the manager/owner was friendly, efficient and easy. Instructions were clear and helpful. House was simply amazing! Nice furniture, comfortable and clean beds, plenty of rooms and bathrooms for everyone to have privacy, well-furnished kitchen, etc. Also, the house has a beautiful backyard with a gigantic avocado tree. It was a wonderful experience. We will rent this house again next time we have visitors!

Beautiful place!

I stayed at this property in October, and it was awesome. Even though I usually like trying new places, I'd gladly come back here. My family and I had a blast. We all loved hanging out at the big dining table, sharing meals, and playing board games. The house was very clean and comfy and the backyard, with its beautiful avocado tree, was a nice spot to relax. I would also like to express my gratitude to our host, Maria. She was incredibly responsive and accommodating throughout our stay, ensuring that all of our needs and questions were promptly addressed. Her hospitality was truly exceptional, and it made our stay all the more enjoyable.

Weekend getaway

We stayed in this beautiful property over Memorial Day weekend. We booked it to attend a graduation ceremony. It worked so well for our family. It was myself, my husband, our 9 year old twins and my mom. It had the perfect amount of room and was exactly as advertised. We had only 1 issue come up and the owner answered my call right away and fixed it within ten minutes. The house is comfortable and well stocked. We would highly recommend it to others and will certainly stay again if we find ourselves in the area.

Wonderful!

This property is a very lovely, spacious home in a safe and beautiful neighborhood. We spent a lot of time walking around the neighborhood looking at homes and gardens. The home has plenty of space and many great areas to sit and visit. Very convenient for restaurants and shopping in Alameda. We took the Seaplane into San Francisco during the day and evening- very safe, economical and comfortable. While staying here, we biked across the Golden Gate Bridge, hiked at Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park, went to an Oakland A’s game and did a walking food tour in the Mission District. Maria was very accessible and accommodating. Loved our stay! Thank you!
