It was a great option, very close to the center and the staff always helpful and friendly. Definitely a nice place to stay, where you’ll get the necessary amenities to enjoy your stay.

Awful Staff
The behaviours concerning a sizable proportion of the staff here is beyond disgusting. The night receptionist is a liar and a fiend who "works" with open hostility and anger at every interaction. This festival week the man in question actually refused to let is leave the hostel at one point because of his lazy attitude and the apparent complexity of standing up and unlocking a door...in addition to this they exploit the guests via the classic taxi scam by inflating the price to the extent of about 300% or whatever fee they judge might be feasibly exploited from unaware guests. We visited a cemetery 4km away and the mobile taxi applications quoted 115peso, though consequent to time restraints we requested a taxi from the hostel at 200peso which then increased to 250 after we ordered it and then when it arrived it was apparently 350 for a 20 minute drive!!! We refused the inflated 350 and paid 250, though we met upon our return guests who were scammed at 350. The cleaning staff also throw water over the roof into the courtyard every day apparently "by accident" though I disbelieve this given that's it was often accompanied by giggles....which sounds harmless until torrents hit your laptop, which is hardly amusing...and if this wasn't already enough I was accused of sleeping in the hostel on a day that I wasn't booked in for the day of the dead festivities when I was out partying until 7am.

I even showed them my bank statements with transactions all night until the said time per
During my visit to Oaxaca City, I had a bad experience outside the hostel, however the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Reyna, Cristina, Mary and Arturo helped me with my problem and made me feel safer. I really recommend this place, it has its own beauty. You will make yourself like you are at home.
Cons:
1) They say its a 6 person room but they lied, those rooms have another bunk bed. This means its very crowded with 8 in total in a small room, with little to no room to even move around.
2) Because they permanently added the additional bunk bed, one of the top bunks is directly under someone, meaning the room can't have A/C without the person on the top bunk having liquid drip on them.
3) They are better places to stay near the area for around the same price.
Pro:
1) Good location
2) Free breakfast
Friendly, generous breakfast. No order in the refregerator , cleanliness is not great 4 days without cleaning the toilet sink. And shower . Staff is wonderful
Very conveniently located in the city center within walking distance to everything. What I liked the best is that the staff is extremely helpful in everything. You have a question or a problem and they will make sure to help you and make your life easy.
Staff was friendly and helpful. I had terribly disrespectful roommates, but that's not their fault. Be aware that not all rooms have a window to the outside. I always think this is something that should be mentioned. Mine opened to the wall of the lobby. In general, it was very loud due to both traffic and said window to the lobby. You should also be aware that they allow smoking on both terraces, so there is nowhere to relax outside without possible smoke inhalation. Breakfast is delicious but not enough (There's a great bakery down the street.). Wifi connection is great (minus on the roof terrace), and it is very clean.
Really great location (between Santo Domingo and the Zocalo). Lots to do and eat nearby. I stayed in the 6 person room, and it was packed, all bunk style beds so that was a bit uncomfortable, but not bad for the price. Staff is super great, breakfast is two eggs, fruit, toast, tee/coffee. Shared bathroom with two toilets and three showers. Very clean!
Good location and rooms, noise from bars opposite will keep you awake at night.
Breakfast was nice and evenly proportioned each morning, sometimes with a smile and sometimes not.
Some staff on reception looked like they didn't want to be there, zero personality or care.
+ good value for money (DB with AC)
+ spacious rooms
+ clean rooms
+ free breakfast including fried eggs
- might be noisy due to the proximity of the club at least in the rooms facing the street
You couldn't find friendlier or more thoughtful folks to come back to each day, or wake up to each morning. All of the staff were special. Plus, you get the added gift of mixing with travelers from all over the world.
The hostel is in a great location within walking distance from downtown Oaxaca. They offer free breakfast and the beds are comfortable. The only thing that can be worked on is their costumer service.
