The hotel staff and people were spectacular! Breakfast was traditional Japanese style food, which may or may not suit westerners. Hotel is a bit dated and it shows. Our room was clean upon arrival; however, we encountered bugs and mosquitoes inside our 3rd floor room. This didn’t particularly bother us, but it may have an impact on other guests. There’s also not a lot to do, activity wise around this hotel. I would highly recommend renting a car (prior to arriving at Keisui) or else you may suffer from boredom during the day. If you didn’t rent a car, take advantage of their daily shuttle service at 10am, which takes you to Shinano-Omachi Station. From there, you can either tour the cute city or rent an e-bike and go sightseeing.
Picked this hotel over the others for the outdoor onsen. But found out it is not available to guest only when in the onsen there..... Should have announced it on the description and let customers decided on whether chosing it or not.
We stayed here to do the Alpine route . Big tour group hotel. For individual travellers , email to request for hotel pickup at Omachi Onsenkyo bus stop. We booked a room with private bathtub on 5th floor . It’s hot water bath, not hotspring water. Has aircon . Front desk staffs speaks very little English , all very courteous and helpful . Room amenities basic . Onsen on ground floor has 2 indoor and 1 outdoor pool, water temp quite good but do aviod peak time with arrival of big tour groups. Kaiseki dinner in private dining room but the quality was disappointing for this price range compared to other ryokans in same category. buffet style breakfast. Hotel transport to Omachi Onsenkyo bus stop , where we bought tickets to Ogizawa by Alpico highland bus.
Autumn foliage color change in Omachi is fantastic. (early November). Town is quiet but a good break after Tateyama Alpine Route Tour (if you dont stay up on alpine). Open-air Onsen is nice

Disliked: Staff & service
Old fashion and not convenient
The hotel is quite old, around 10mins walk from the bus station with a few lights along the road. Didn’t understand why there was no dinner provided by the hotel at the day we stayed. When we asked the hotel staff to drive us to a restaurant at the bus station in the freezing and raining night, they seemed not willing to do that, though finally gave us a ride.
We stayed here as our jumping off point for the Alpine Route. The hotel is next to a lovely river -- ask for a river view room. Our room was clean and comfortable. The public baths (separate men/women) were very relaxing with lovely garden views and the lounge had patio where we could both dangle our feet in the hot spring water. The breakfast buffet included ample choices of both western and Japanese food. The hotel staff were very helpful to forward our luggage and also drive us to the bus stop where we began the Alpine Route. We would definitely go back to this Ryokan next time in the area.
Very spacious room. Free onsen and foot bath available. Dinner is served in private room and food is very good. Breakfast is buffet style with jap and western variety. Free hotel shuttle from Omachi Onsenkyo bus station.
Nice onsen hotel. Reasonably priced couple onsen room. Very nice location at the tip of the access to Tateyama Alpine route. If you are taking bus from Shin-Omachi, do check the bus timetable first as the bus timings are limited. We reached Shin-Omachi at 5.45pm and there are already no more bus servies. Overall, a pleasant stay.
