You will soak in the serenity from our cozy cottage porch overlooking a tree swing & pond where you can fish, paddle & ponder life. Our quaint home has beds for 14, so come with your fav people to experience it all together! Enjoy the patio, grill, front porch swing, pecan orchard, & pond with ducks and paddleboat. The unique climax: a scenic ride on our vintage firetruck!
The Space:
Our cozy cottage with lots of character near The Loveliest Village on the Plains (only 6.4 miles from the AU campus!) offers special outdoor spaces including a front porch with porch swing and comfy chairs overlooking the pond and a tall tree swing, plus a back patio with a charcoal grill, tables and more seating. There is alot of space for the children to spread out and play in the yard with the beautiful pecan trees. We can house up to 14 people (6 of those are bunk beds for the kids) plus a pack and play / travel bed for the baby. Two "Family Rooms" upstairs each have a large bed (one king, one queen) plus a set of bunk beds, a papasan round chair and a window seat reading nook overlooking the pond. Our roomy kitchen makes it easy for multiple people to pitch in and work together creating meals and memories. The rustic living room / dining room area has a beautiful wooden-beamed vaulted ceiling, electric fireplace, a 55 inch Smart TV with cable, and 400 mbps WiFi throughout the house. Three full bathrooms and a washer and dryer make it simple for everyone to stay together comfortably.
Guest Access:
You will have exclusive access to the whole cottage and yard. Neighbors have shared access to the pond which is used infrequently.
The Neighborhood:
The area surrounding Pond House on the Plains is a small, quiet, rural neighborhood only 6.4 miles from the Auburn University campus and all the Auburn games and activities. Our location between Auburn and Opelika is also equally close to Tiger Town, Downtown Opelika and Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. We are convenient to all the events while being out of the noise and congestion of traffic and crowds. Access to the pond is shared with your neighbors who use it infrequently.
Getting Around:
You have free parking next to the house for 4 to 5 vehicles. Park neatly just off the gravel road on the Pond House side.
Other Things to Note:
At the Pond House on the Plains we offer fun, wholesome, special touches to make your stay an experience to remember for the whole family! Where else can you get a 30-60 minute scenic ride through the lovely adjoining woods and fields on a vintage firetruck?! This is also the perfect prop for taking unique photos. A full mini tea set is provided for your use plus a picnic basket set. There is a fun tiny playroom for the little ones built in under the stairs with books, props, and fairy lights for imaginative play. Fishing poles and a paddleboat will be provided upon prior written request so you can more fully enjoy the pond. You are welcome to bring your own additional non-motorized boats such as kayaks, canoes and paddle boards. The Pond House is the only brick, two-story home in the small, surrounding "Whatley Farms" neighborhood.
Interaction with Guests:
In most cases, I will meet you on arrival to give you a quick tour of the space and answer any questions. After that you can contact me at any time if you need something. I live close by with my husband and two daughters and thus will be readily available! My family loves learning together and serving in our church. This is my hometown and I love the area so much. I will be more than happy to help you with any local questions or recommendations!
