The property itself is beautiful and in a great location, but there were some significant downsides to my stay. First, the room was a disappointment. It looked nothing like the photos advertised, it was very basic and lacked the charm or luxury I was expecting based on the images. Additionally, the design of the hotel is not practical for travelers with luggage. There are stairs in the hallway, which made carrying my suitcase incredibly inconvenient. I would not recommend this hotel if accessibility is a concern. Lastly, cleanliness was an issue. When I checked into my room, I found hairs in the bathtub, which left a bad first impression regarding the hotel’s attention to detail and hygiene. While the overall property has potential, the experience fell short of what I hoped for. Improvements in accuracy of photos, design practicality, and cleaning standards would make a huge difference.

The hotel was “good”. Was probably great in its earlier days, not that happy with management, I was in a business trip and booked 3 days, circumstances changed and I needed to modify my reservation, Management said no, so I had to pay for a night I did not use. That is a first in a very long time where the hotel didn’t work with me.

Good hotel for a wonderful city

Great location! Old glory hotel Rooms are not big and we had no view at all. Make sure to check that when you reserve Hotel needs a tune up but still a great option

While Grand Hotel is a fantastic historical place to visit, it is NOT handicapped friendly. Access and physical hindrances make it unreasonably difficult to appreciate the environment which is unique. Our junior suite had No handicap facilities (although requested beforehand). Professional, service minded personnel did their best to make our 8-day stay pleasurable.

It is a beautiful old building opposite the parliament. The staff were so nice, and breakfast was fantastic. Learned alot of Norwegisn traditions.

Hotel was centrally-located in the heart of Oslo, the rooms and facilities were well-appointed and we loved all the historical aspects of the hotel. Staff were friendly and attentive - we can’t wait to be back. Highly recommended!

Terrible stay in the suite - don’t bother

Avoid this hotel. We stayed in the suite: - and it was cold - the heating was luke warm and it is a large room. There was a small heater on full blast. It was ineffective. -TV remote was out of batteries and needed to be fixed - it happens. -The duvet was smaller than the bed. - We put the kettle on and it blew a fuse. We sat in darkness for 20minutes to be told we can’t use the kettle or other appliances whilst the heater is on and essentially blamed for the blackout. The manager was defensive and thought offering us a meal at 9.30pm (we’d eaten) or a superior room with a view (at 9.45pm), which we would not see nor were we inclined to pack and unpack were suitable solutions. We requested more duvets (two single duvets arrived). A discount was apparently not possible because we’d booked via Hotels.com. The dialogue continued the next day at check out. With this many failings, we did not expect nor appreciate repeating ourselves nor a third and another defensive, long and tiresome conversation. The manager offered afternoon tea when we were due to fly out. She offered a voucher for our next stay. There certainly would not be one. She was not inclined to recommend a discount to Hotels.com because in her mind she had offered (non) solutions. It was truly very disappointing. Yes we received a discount but only because we held our ground. It should have been forthcoming without so much effort.

This is probably the worst 5star hotel we have ever stayed in. Great location. That is the only positive On arrival no one to open the front door to welcome into the hotel. Tired communal areas. The room was tiny, filthy dirty and so below standard we had to ask to be moved. Moved to another room l. Chipped paint on the walls, dust in the air filters. No turndown service, a faulty kettle, broken handles on the external windows. Spa the massages were great but the spa facilities very tired. The steam room smelt damp and musty so we didn’t use. On checkout the car was asked to be charged overnight, it wasn’t so left for airport and had to spend 1hour on the way to recharge. Not 5 star in anyway at all. 2 star at best. If you want 5 star, the Theif is similar priced and so so much better on every level.
