Simple but comfortable room. Staff were nice and room was clean. Great location in terms of being in the center of things but very loud outside at night due to nightlife. Bring ear plugs.

Too noisy
I was unlucky enough to have a room overlooking the Main Street and it was very noisy at night. Windows were not double glazed and it was quite difficult to get to sleep. Quality of mattress also very mediocre.
Large clean rooms and friendly staff. Great location close to the bus station and city centre - very walkable.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
If booking this room say there are 2 people checking in. I was assigned a very small room....like had to step over my carry on suitcase that was beside my twinsize bed. My colleagues who also stayed in this hotel had normal size rooms for the same rate.
Rooms are clean and staff were very nice.
If you don't have a car in Oxford this is an amazing location. A short walk from the train and bus stations and very centrally located to restaurants and other things to see in town. We were in a room on the top floor at the back and had no problem with noise. The room was clean and the front desk was helpful when we had questions, I would stay here again.

Noisy at night if your room is on the side of the street with bars
Convenient location, though the staircase to get to the reception was difficult at my age with a suitcase. They did give me a room on the first floor though, which was some compensation. A discount was given for breakfast across the road, so the price was good there and so was the breakfast! Our room was facing the main road and I had little sleep with students wandering around till 3:00am….maybe it was Orientation Week?

Unsatisfactory
Our room was cold during our overnight stay. The bathroom was cramped and cold. There is no elevator, so we had to carry our luggage up three flights of stairs. We won't be returning to this hotel.

Check-in process was slow and somewhat haphazard. Once the front desk person finally showed up — after an intercom call and a wait — everything worked out fine. The room was ok, but the bathroom smelled like cat urine. A more thorough room cleaning would be nice. The heating system was difficult to navigate. Check out was fine. The location is outstanding.
The location of this hotel is central to everything in Oxford. It was very close to the bus stop where the coaches from the airport drop off and pick up passengers. It’s convenient to all the shops, museums, coffee shops and restaurants one could want. Across the street from the hotel is a nice brunch spot that will provide hotel guests a small discount. The hotel staff is kind and helpful. My room was very clean and large enough for a lot of luggage. The bathroom was smaller (only one person at a time can fit) but the shower has a powerful output. The room offered free cans of water and tea (with biscuits and milk and sugar). Because you are right above the streets, there can be occasional singing and traffic noise at night. I did not have safety concerns like a reviewer wrote about, which almost made me dread my stay. It’s in a very busy part of town, adjacent to a popular theater that draws a lot of people to its shows so maybe that person was unaccustomed to the hustle. The hotel key card allows only guests inside. The hotel is on the second floor and there isn’t a lift but staff will help. Overall I had a lovely stay in a comfy and clean room helped by some very nice people. I recommend!
Great location . But we were not informed about the fact that you have to climb a set of stairs to the first floor in order to check in and then another set of stairs to the second floor rooms. I am retired and had heavy luggage there is no elevator.
Room smelt terribly almost like animal urine and got a member of staff to check and verify. Very noisy and requires double glazing. I would rate this hotel as 2 star
There are many flights of stairs up to the check in desk with no option of an elevator, so you needed to drag your luggage up and down yourself. Then another flight of steps to your room. I was a little terrified of what would happen if there was an emergency as far as getting out of there. Staff was delightful.
