The Mecure Irwin St was very well located. Some very helpful staff. David in Cucina in Hay was particularly good Some negatives Hot water was very hit and miss, cold most mornings. If you got to breakfast later than 8 you missed out on pastries, bacon,cold meats etc.

Overall the hotel was clean and tidy. However the general appearance look tired a refurbishment wouldnt go a miss. Carpet in the room was badly wrinkled. Staff were friendly and willing to help.

I was not happy with this hotel. There was no parking, except valet (and no advice on best way to park). There was no toilet roll holder in room and no toilet paper and it took hours to get any and this was not replaced when it ran out. The rooms were very dated, and the shower temperature was hard to control. I would not recommend this hotel, The beds were the only god point. The Mecure in Liverpool was so much better.

Filthy and worn out. Had allergic reaction to dust mites, tattered carpet and bathroom mold. Had to open the window to breath. Went to check out gym and got locked in stairwell. Had to go down 13 flights of stairs to street exit. No signage warning this would happen.

In desperate need of a refresh/update
The staff are great and the hotel foyer has been updated... but it ends there. The room, while large, is dated and in DESPERATE need of a renovation. The carpet was lifting everywhere and the decor screamed late 1990s or maybe 2001 at best. It looked tired, felt tired and even unclean. If it were not for the staff doing their absolute best, we'd have left.
