From the moment we walked in, the environment at Extended Stay America was welcoming. We were greeted by James, the manager, with smiles and hospitality. Though we arrived a bit early and our very clearly ragged appearances could have been met with disdain, we were instead treated with caring humanity. "Y'all look exhausted. Normally there is an early check-in fee, but... you look like you've had enough today. Let's get you checked in." I almost broke down again, because we were truly at the limit of our resources and energy.
When we walked into the second-story room with its clean appearance and every amenity of a studio apartment, we felt like heaven had opened its gates to us. I showered—an act too long in the completing, I guarantee—and felt almost human again. I laid down on the firm bed and slept for hours.
Thank you so much, James, for your kindness and decency. As soon as we can accommodate, we will be long-time customers. Perhaps you'll teach the staff at La Quinta how to be a little more human! Thank you so much!
