Thanksgiving and Tow
As an avid traveling family and User of hotels, time share owner, and VRBO member, we have stayed in all types of accommodations. Thanksgiving has been a sort of throw a dart at the map and choose a bucket list type of adventure. This year we stumbled across the Story of First Thanksgiving Dinner in Plymoth Massachusetts. We decided to go with the spacious VRBO house over a hotel with pool.
We made contact and the reservation process was standard. The host was cordial and feiendly. The pictures looked great. The one tidbit was the mention of a slippery drivway leading up to the house. The host asked if we had SUVs and we did. Not thinking anything more of it we notified the owner we would be arriving in the early AM of Thanksgiving.
Upon arriving we went up a steep incline covered with leaves and it was raining. What we were not prepared for was the craters. One SUV bottomed out and became stuck. It was so bad we needed to get a wrecker not standard tow truck to to basically lift the vehicle out of the embankment. We notified the host and were told told thanks for letting us know..
The property was pretty but aged. It was difficult to figure out lights and what switches actually controlled. The heat was off. I have had considerate hosts leave the lights on , and heat/ac on. The host is in it for profit and not basic guest accommodation. The rental comes with itemized lists like extra trash fees per bag. The host should consider customer service. It is one to avoid
