I did not like how many homeless people were around the building. I was a little uncomfortable being a solo female traveller, but they did just keep to themselves so it wasn't horrible. Other than that my stay was lovely. I would stay again.

The Mark Spencer Hotel is a nice place to stay if you are looking for a decent hotel in the Pearl District. Not a luxury place, but a good, clean, comfortable stay.The close proximity to Powell’s Books, good coffee shops, and a food cart pod are a big plus for me. Also, several good dining choices nearby as well as a Whole Foods Market.

Always love staying at the Spencer. We typically choose this hotel for concerts at the Crystal Ballroom and add an extra day for Powell's books and local resturaunts.

This hotel was a terrific choice for my stay. It is located close to tons of restaurant and shopping options. There are two coffee shops and six restaurants within steps of the entrance. Patagonia, Hello from Portland, Portland Gear and Powell’s books are also just a block away. The train and trolly stops are very close by making it easy to get out to the other sides of the city. The area is very walkable and I was able to walk to Powell’s, the river front and the Old Town Portland sign without any trouble or safety concerns (even at night). The staff is amazing and very attentive and the hotel itself, while obviously on the older side, was really clean and beautiful. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want a central place to stay that has easy and quick access to the rest of the city.

Cute clean hotel in very walkable area
Overnight stay in Pearl District in Portland. Walking distance to Powell’s Bookstore, Crystal Ballroom, shops, restaurants, etc. We got the King Corner Suite. Was cute, clean, comfortable. Would definitely stay again!
