Pleasantly surprised
While this is not the Ritz, it was undergoing some continuing renovation, so parts of it were very adequate and nice looking. The room was clean and neat, the furniture was relatively up to date.. The Linens and the bed were particularly nice. I had a very comfortable night's sleep. The bathroom had a semi modern feel with good lighting and countertop space for your own toiletries. I would not hesitate to return.

This place is a dump.
The room was not clean....hair in the bathroom, curtains were ripped,..toilet didn't work properly...it is not a place we will ever book again.

They are renting to people when they are doing upgrades to the hotel. All this noise and banging at 8am when people are trying to sleep in. The Spanish woman at the front desk is terrible with her professionalism and was yelling and screaming at me when I didn't agree with what she said. Meanwhile the manager of the hotel was standing right next to her. The sadness is that they don't know I paid for the hotel each night but tried to tell me I was not a customer. The professional of this place is terrhbl, gross and the manager should be ashamed of herself letting this woman push out customers and disrespect the guests in their hotel. The only thing that was nice were the gentlemen who Ronan the hotel at night. Very respectable, he should be running the front desk in the am greeting customers. Not the bitter Hispanic woman at the front desk who was super disrespectful. She should never be greeting any customers with her foul attitude.

The room TV was broken and Tom went out of his way to try and remedy the issue, but it wasn't something he could fix that night. He was very understanding and accommodating by moving us to another room and giving us an upgrade at no extra cost.

This hotel has really gone down hill. It is supposedly undergoing renovations as per the reviews i read. When you first walk it the entrance it is extremely dirty as wells as the halls and the hallway smells, can't describe the smell but it was terrible, there was garbage everywhere. When entered the room there was a small hole in the bathroon door as well as stains on the ceiling in both the bathroom and main room. As per reviews read they stated there was breakfast available but when got there stated they don't offer breakfast on a sign. Desk clerk didi no mention anything didn fine him helpful at all. Would never stay here again.

Good value
The hotel is a little rough around the edges, the stairs had dirty carpets and there's trash in the parking lot, but at the end of the day the rooms were clean and it's in a great location. It's about a 25 minute walk through safe and scenic neighborhoods to get to Portsmouth center.I would definitely stay again
