No help from outside bellman upon arrival. Small room for price. Drinks in bar $$$$. Booked 4 excursions through concierge. Two were included, two were extra fee. Seemed unusual to pay for a guided hotel tour as a guest at $550 room rate. Do not do the food tour for $75. Very little food, even less wine (9 oz total, if that). At one point we sat on some steps for 30 minutes to hear the brief history of Quebec. The “free” tours were informative but expected the food/wine tour to have more food and wine.

The staff was kind but the hotel is old, room was not cool enough and the wifi was literally non-existent. The afternoon tea was not special at, all in same room as dining. The drive entrance under const was awful to enter. The food in the restaurant was terrible. Not a single meal tasted good.it does not compare to the Fairmont in Victoria. The bathroom was tiny. We waited a long time to get the doorman to take our luggage the valet kept telling him we were waiting. There were no directions to the dining room and it was an underground maze to get there. Finally some other quests told us where it was. No signs to tell us which floor much less which direction once on correct floor. Parking to wait for valet or other service was terrible. There was no hotel directory or list of phone numbers for hotel amenities in the room. Not enough staff during busy check-in times. No list of nearby attractions.

I know this location is iconic so that’s why it is what it is and I don’t like to leave a poor review, but the cost of this hotel is ridiculous. The room was cramped and not fully cleaned with not really much amenities or a view for a HIGH price. Then you still pay for parking, over $100 for breakfast and $15 for a NON ALCOHOLIC DRINK?! It was disappointing. I had high hopes for our stay and it hardly lived up to expectations for over $800 for ONE night.

The outward appearance of the hotel is unique and world class. Very few, if any, look like this hotel. Every one of the staff that we encountered were friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The rooms have been renovated and are modern, although due to the age of the structure, the bathrooms are relatively small. Most expensive hotel we’ve ever stayed in, but a gift to ourselves on our 50th anniversary.
